    Hmm, I think that's why it's not so weird, I think what you described could be exactly why the author made it important in the lore, giving humans such a potentially major disadvantage in the conflict and also giving a somewhat plausible "realistic" explanation why most people remain unaware of the real supernatural stuff going on despite such a modern real world setting, plus it ups the threat level and explains all the secret agencies. Also, I imagine future seasons might still take more advantage of the lore more than we've seen so far since we never even got up to getting backstories for even some of the main team before season 1 dropped all of it to veer off into anime-only territory. I remember really liking the show overall thanks to the canon parts we got of season 1 so I'm really looking forward to finally seeing more of the main story.
