  1. If you hurry, you can catch the West Coast feed! ...well, most of it anyway!
  2. Well, it's almost half over, but here ya go...
  3. I'm sure everyone knows by now that by this time next week, this rerun will be over, but at least we've got one week left, right? First up tonight, the first time Arale has appeared on weekday TV since like 2003: And then after that, it's "Take Me Out To The Ballgame..." ...but I'll post that preview later!
  4. Didn't happen in '17 though. However, that was the exception, and in '18 looks like we go back to the rule. Indeed it has happened every year since Adult Swim first took over the 8 PM hour in 2013 except last year.
  5. "This dark cloud" - Hey, dark clouds eventually pass and the sunshine returns! I'd say it's gone until January, but then it will probably return from the beginning. Even if that's true, I don't get why they can't give the Dragon Ball Super Power Hour a proper sendoff at 8 PM (complete with an annoying amount of reminders that Dragon Ball Super's time is changing to 11 PM on Toonami) and start an all-nighter of Bob's Burgers at 9? Sticking that random-ass hour of the Brak Show in there just seems silly. But I suppose we'll see that all over Monday through Thursday, even though if you haven't been watching DBS at 10:30 on Toonami, you'll miss a couple of fairly important episodes of the current arc.
  6. Wednesday didn't do as well for Dragon Ball Super, but still pretty admirable, ESPECIALLY that 18-34 rank for the 2nd episode, which featured Future Trunks using his huge Spirit Sword and finally cleaving Merged Zamasu in half! https://programminginsider.com/wednesday-final-ratings-americas-got-talent-season-finale-delivers-nbcs-best-non-olympic-results-in-the-time-period-in-one-year/ Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:00 PM, 30 min.) • 0.438 million viewers (#78) • 0.29 HH (#78) • 0.18 A18-49 (#54) • 0.19 A18-34 (#26) • 0.18 A25-54 (#63) Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:30 PM, 30 min.) • 0.492 million viewers (#73) • 0.36 HH (#68) • 0.21 A18-49 (#38) • 0.24 A18-34 (#15) • 0.20 A25-54 (#59) DBS hasn't seen an episode hit as high as #15 on the 18-34 rankings since 8/3! And the 0.24 ties its 2nd highest; you have to go way back into the Beerus saga, with the Super Saiyan God ritual, to see a higher rating (0.26 on 7/12). But I suppose none of that really matters, since it we now know the REAL reason DBS aired at 8:30 on weeknights: [as] is losing the 8 PM hour to CN starting on 10/1, so it was actually to speed up the run so that they get caught up reasonably close to the Toonami broadcast. This also explains why [as] doesn't seem to have made a commercial for this "power hour"--it's temporary, and Dragon Ball Super's current weeknight run shall end with unlucky Week 13. Even more of a slap in the face is the fact that they WON'T be airing Episodes 79 and 80 on Friday the 28th (which would catch up to 81 airing on Toonami on the 29th), opting instead for a 4.5-hour repeating Bob's Burgers marathon with an hour of The Brak Show sandwiched in the middle. Now losing the 8 PM hour in the 4th Quarter of a year is nothing new--in fact, last year was the only year it hasn't happened for many years, oddly enough in part because Dragon Ball Super was doing quite well for itself with an 8 PM power hour on Saturdays 2 hours before Toonami began at 11, but this time it feels more like it's helping out [as], which just unceremoniously lost 2 of its biggest performers in the 8 PM hour, and had to bring in Super Saiyan Blue Goku as its pinch-hitter (who ironically plays baseball in the lame duck power hour tonight), than CN. Of course, there IS a silver lining to this dark cloud: from 10/6 onward, [as] actually BEGINS Saturday nights with Toonami for the first time ever, and kicking it off is none other than the great DBZ Kai! This could be a TREMENDOUS move for ratings depending on what CN decides to close with. If they bring back Hollywood movies, this could be HUGE!
  7. NOW I see what you mean--since [as] loses the 9 PM hour on 10/1, that also is in effect on Saturdays, and 10/6 [as] begins with Toonami and DBZ Kai! "DRAGONSOUL!!"
  8. What is Pete Smith Day?
  9. **looks** Well I'll be damned. Guess I'll have to save these last few episodes of the Zamasu saga after all. And maybe the Baseball episode. Best case scenario, it was gonna reset to Episode 1 anyway. It wasn't going beyond 80 since what's coming on Toonami next is 80. I sure hope this isn't permanent, and that CN has a GOOD reason to steal the 8 PM hour from [as]. But somehow I doubt it.
  10. Actually, that's been going on for awhile, since September 10th, to be exact. And it hasn't been a thing on Saturday nights all this year; just Monday-Friday. But what's really weird is there will be NO Dragon Ball Super on Friday, September 28th! Instead, we get almost a whole night of Bob's Burgers, with just a sprinkling of 4 episodes of Brak from 12:30-1:30. I'm at a loss as to just what the occasion might be, but there ya go. https://adultswim.sercomkc.org/ I'm also quite bummed out that the Super reruns apparently WON'T reach episode 79 yet, which is the one I recorded but lost, so I still haven't even seen it yet (last week's). I thought this would end perfectly since Episode 80 is coming up this week on Toonami, but I guess 78 is as far as this rerun will go until at least 10/1. On that day we MIGHT get episodes 79 and 80, and then on 10/2 reset to episode 1? I don't get the logic in that, since showing 79 and 80 as normal Friday would indubitably build hype for 81 on Saturday night at 11, but that might be what they're doing. The schedule for 10/1 remains shrouded in mystery but I'd say it's most likely that 79 and 80 get skipped over and we simply reset to 1 & 2 on 10/1. The Dragon Ball Super rerun seems to be doing quite well in the ratings, so it would be a shame if they decided to pull it, but this IS still Adult Swim we're talking about here. For the past 10 years they've seldom given anime a bone without also kicking out one of its legs, but you could argue that's exactly what happened from 8/18-9/10. In that time frame, it gained an extra 3 hours weekly (30 minutes to Toonami; 2.5 to the DBS rerun). But could the Super reruns be ending with Toonami's expansion to 7 hours?
  11. Wow, looks like Dragon Ball Super had a "Super Tuesday!" https://programminginsider.com/tuesday-final-ratings-paley-center-salute-to-this-is-us-edges-past-mayans-m-c-to-win-the-10-p-m-hour/ Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:00 PM, 30 min.) • 0.517 million viewers (#67) • 0.33 HH (#68) • 0.19 A18-49 (#48) • 0.19 A18-34 (#28) • 0.17 A25-54 (#71) Dragon Ball Super (repeat) (ADSM, 8:30 PM, 30 min.) • 0.554 million viewers (#66) • 0.34 HH (#66) • 0.23 A18-49 (#33) • 0.21 A18-34 (#21) • 0.21 A25-54 (#58) And I won't post it, but American Dad actually FELL from there in Total Viewers! (Though it was flat in households and gained in all the demos.) That 8:30 timeslot set new personal bests for Dragon Ball Super in households, Adults 18-49, and Adults 25-54! And it's still early, but at this point Week 12 is now leading in everything except adults 18-34. I just KNEW Goku Black swinging a scythe and opening some sort of bizarre rift in space and sending forth multiple copies of himself, while Trunks and Mai try to contain Zamasu with the Evil Containment Wave would be good for ratings!
  12. Except for the aforementioned swordfight, you're right. It's why I call episodes 16-21 the "sweet spot" of Sword Art Online II--they have by far the best action in the season!
  13. Maybe at some point someone gives him a megaphone?? I guess that would be anachronistic though.
  14. Oh yeah, DEFINITELY some of the best action in the series so far--especially that swordfight between Asuna and Yuuki!
  15. Not really. Just the kind of stuff you'd expect him to say. Usually it's stuff like "I had planned to throw a surprise party, but no one asked me!" As for WHY, maybe as an ironic counterweight to Asta, who speaks so loudly you can't help BUT hear him? Or maybe to give those of us who typically watch with captions a little treat??
  16. I assure you, this year this will be the only one.
  17. Problem: no dub. If it DOES eventually get one, I guess I could see us having it in the latter half of the block next year. I think HxH may eventually become seasonal like AOT and MHA. It will be interesting to see what happens with the manga, if it ever goes off hiatus long enough for Madhouse to try to adapt some more material as anime. Think InuYasha: The Final Act, except seasonal. The thing is, since it's now the latest premiere of the night, I don't think there's really that much chance it will happen. When it was in the early reaches of the block and kicking butt in the ratings, I would say it had a chance, but now, I'd say it's iffy at best. It would be amazing if the 2:30 AM rerun of Lupin the 3rd Part 4 actually got replaced by Part 5 in January, but that likely can't happen without some sort of shift in the schedule. I want to believe Boruto isn't the last new show from Toonami this year and they have one more trick left up their sleeve to replace FLCL Alternative, but I'd say that might be doubtful, unless we lose Bebop at the same time, since FLCL3 would obviously get a rerun in a later timeslot.
  18. It never actually aired on TV in Japan; it's an Original Net Anime, according to Anime News Network. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=17825 This would actually be an interesting phenomenon if it DID happen, because I don't believe anything that didn't have either a Japanese TV or theatrical run other than U.S. originals (e.g.: IGPX; Samurai Jack) have ever aired on Toonami.
  19. Yeah, 9 PM on Saturday night is crap, especially up against college football. Actually, when AOT S3 gets finished, it will be an 8th 60+-episode series. MHA will also eventually hit 60 but it hasn't gotten there yet. Until Season 4 is announced of either, AOT and MHA will be roughly the same length. Aside from AOT, HxH will free up a timeslot at some point next summer. Whatever replaces FLCL Alternative is pivotal. I'm also hoping FLCL replaces OPM with a timeslot that rotates between all 3 series in what's left of 2018 and all of 2019 at that point (2 AM). I understand FLCL Progressive getting a rerun at 11:30, but I wouldn't understand FLCL Alternative getting one. Even Space Dandy was cast into a later slot when it completely ran out of premieres. Gundam: Thunderbolt would be a nice replacement for FLCL Alternative; with 8 episodes, it would end before the end of 2018. With no marathon on the weekend before Halloween (or none on the one before Thanksgiving), that would give it at 11:30 (or Midnight if AOT moves up) on 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, (11/24 if 10/27 used for marathon), 12/1, 12/8, and 12/15. The only problem is that it has a slightly unusual runtime of 18 minutes, which would be ideal for a longer interstitial, but with normally-OP-free Shippuden now at 10 PM, it probably wouldn't be needed. Elsewhere in the Gundam multiverse, I've heard some pretty good things about Reconquista in G, but I don't know if it has a dub. Back on the note of Shippuden, its 10 PM timeslot isn't just a benefit for it, but also likely for artists who want to get their animated music videos on the Better Cartoon Show. Now they've got a better regular timeslot and therefore better exposure. Maybe Gorillaz' new video will make an appearance?
  20. What's weird is this ED has actually grown on me. It does have a kickin' bass groove after the original vocal gibberish beginning. I kinda want to see if there's actually more to the song sometime... Yes, there is!
  21. It would have been perfect if this was the way the arc ended, but no--we had to get THIS: Yeah, I have a meeting tomorrow, so I probably won't be watching with the East Coast--but maybe the West?
  22. Quite a bit! Fortunately, Trunks has new resolve just as THIS happens!
  23. That was so much more impressive than what we're seeing here!
