I have to cut that off and solder on a schrader valve for R12, then use my gauge set and 30lb can of R-134a to fill it. The repair is the obvious yellow hose, rated for 600psi. That line runs at about 25-30psi

in your example, the rock is harder to deal with so yes it is stupid. In my case, my key loop is actually easier and also does not bend the bottle cap, plus it's faster. It may look stupid, but it actually works better therefore rendering the phrase.

I can take a pic of the repair but I am waiting on the access schrader valve to get here so I can solder it on to the compressor to charge the unit. And trust me, it's a rig. But I'm only dealing with low pressure.

HAHAHA usually this phrase goes well with those who are very mechanically inclined. Like me using a 600psi rubber hose and hose clamps to repair a broken line on a refrigerator. Stupid? Yes. But it works and saved me the hassle of brazing in a new line or getting a flare kit and fitting.

Cheaper vodka, yes. BUT better vodka is so good straight and chilled.

The one I have was like $350 new and I'm not about to try and find one cheap on Craigslist lol... especially when I can spend about $5 to fix it.

Because I know how to fix it, it broke. My free mini fridge (more like a medium fridge... it's 5 feet tall and 24" wide) had a very poor design as to how the compressor was attached to it, so towing it home on a trailer resulted in a broken line. I just happen to have HVAC gauges, 26 pounds of R-134a, and the proper plumbing tools needed to repair it. If I didn't know shit about HVAC, that fridge would be 100% fine. Oh and believe me, I AM fixing it. It was a fight getting it out of the junk camper I found it in, and the bitch can turn triple distilled vodka into slush.

It made everything dimmer and a slight strain to look at.
