Exactly! When I tell people that haven't watched or have never heard of Twin Peaks I usually tell them there are two layers to the story. The basic murder mystery layer and the coded other worldly layer; usually that gets them interested enough to check it out....I also recommend that they see one of David's movies too just so they get a sense of it. But yeah, season 2 second half was weaksauce and probably for the reasons you mentioned. Season 1 sticks with you. Season 2, the main plot revelations are the only things that stuck. That and James random side story > Oh and Billy Zane being a love interest for Audrey. > I hope this current season keeps its pace and doesn't go off on other things. I hope we also hear more music because Laura's theme and the jazz theme were really drilled into you with the first seasons. :D

I actually started rewatching from season 1 recently because my mom shockingly enjoyed the new eps....so ofc I was like WELP YOU NEED TO SEE IT FROM THE BEGINNING. It's been nice because it has been a while since I first watched it. Plus, it's nice to see the clues in the previous season, see if there is some connections I can make in the current.

Lucky you I knew I should've did that free Showtime shit with Amazon <_< I have SlingTV and they offered a free preview of Showtime, so I watched on there. Maybe the other two eps are on there on the "On Demand" feature, I'll have to look. I didn't expect them to put out 4 eps like that o_O but Showtime is weird like that sometimes since I remember getting Penny Dreadful early in the beginning of the seasons.
