Naraku4656
should plumbers putty still be coming out of the bathtub drain days after we put a new drain on? i feel like putty shouldn't be coming out of there anymore, at least not wel. i'm afraid it's not watertight and it'll lead to a leak

StarPanda
No it shouldn't, which means you might have to re do it again Before water damage happens

Rogue_Alphonse
Normally. Warm water will make that happen. Just take a knife and go around the edge of the drain flange to scrape out the excess. I mean at worst just give it an extra bit of tightening...
Naraku4656
so wet mushy plumbers putty is ok? it's not hard or anything when it comes out. i just don't really feel like spending $300 calling a plumber over nothing but at the same time i really don't want to deal with a $4000 water leak

Put your finger or two in the drain and move it from side to side with all of your strength If it slowly moves or worse, then it needs tightened.
