SwimOdin Posted Thursday at 08:56 PM Posted Thursday at 08:56 PM In Dragon Ball Z, the solar flare technique ALWAYS WORKED. Any time someone used it, even villains (Cell), it was always effective in escapes or tactics and it never failed. Every other technique (save the “instant transmission”) was shown to fail or be ineffective at some point. Even the spirit bomb! That never worked (mostly)! So was it a trump card or was it the most OP thing in Dragon Ball? Quote
André Toulon Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM Posted Thursday at 09:02 PM It definitely has the highest success rate...even Kamehamehas have whiffed, and the ki volley HAS to be the one with the most failures, but calling it OP seems a bit over the top. I'll give it an S tier in support and utility, but it has yet to kill anyone that I'm aware of. But since we are on the subject, what move did Vegeta use to destroy that planet of bugs....that shit is in the running for most OP and that was base Geets....where in tf did that go? 1 Quote
SwimOdin Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM Author Posted Thursday at 09:41 PM That stuff was technically filler that didn’t happen in the manga, so I could say “not cannon”, but that did look badass when he stood in space and casually destroyed a planet. So are there any other S tier abilities in your opinion? Obviously instant transmission, and the destructo disc was great until Cell made it obsolete (also technically manga only). Quote

Ok I'm waaaaay too pitifully equipped for this conversation. I know nothing of the manga... I've watched several versions of Z, but I cant necessarily name them. I saw the one with the badass music...Faulkner I think was the composers name, and saw Kai just because it was on but that's all i can name. But the real handicap is that any knowledge I've retained is from DBZA, and well....you know. 1 Quote

André Toulon Posted Thursday at 11:22 PM Posted Thursday at 11:22 PM (edited) I feel like buu's chocolate move was rather OP. Didn't seem there was any real defense for it iirc, but even of the source versions, the Buu saga is definitely the one I've seen the fewest times. Still, that shit was pretty broken Edited Thursday at 11:23 PM by André Toulon Quote

And yeah, I don’t like the Buu arc other than the fan favorite parts (Gotenks, Vegito, Ultimate Gohan). 1 Quote
katt_goddess Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Solar Flare is a defensive move meant to blind and confuse briefly in order to basically escape or at least buy time for someone else. So there is no real defense against it because it doesn't have any real physical form to deflect. It's light. It's also unlikely to add to anyone's XP since it's just concentrated light so when you have a bunch of people who rely more on physical form techniques which help them to level up further, it's just a very effective power move for tight spots in order to get into a better position for fighting later. I think in DBZ terms, it would only be a trump card if it's use automatically meant a win but any win is based on the power move used after. 1 Quote
