Jman Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Apparently the show also has Gravity Falls vets and is worth watching for that. Quote
Chapinator_X Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Is Akira even on Netflix? But it helps that Akira is about as recognizable in the States as My Neighbor Totoro. When South Park, Kanye West, and a ton of Cartoon Network shows have been throwing references around for years, you’re bound to have a wider audience that’s already been introduced to Akira because it happens to be the favorite anime of so many western creatives. The1gairon Posted November 2, 2021 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Alex Hirsch is an executive producer (and voices one character: Knolls, the guy who actually killed JFK), but he otherwise has no creative input in the show. I am astounded the show makes no effort to hide how it takes place firmly in 2020. You even see "2020" on-screen at one point. They throw shade at Facebook at least several times. All they need is a pandemic in-universe and they're set! Edited November 2, 2021 by elfie Quote
