When I get older losing my hair
Many years from now
Will you still be sending me a Valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine

If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door
Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four

We are but soldiers in an infinite war, scrambling for some semblance of reality. We grasp and hold to it tightly, and we never let it go. That small shred of reality makes us what we are. We hold and protect it, and we never allow a bit of infiltration. We are the protectors of a future none can see.

I'm so good at maths
I'll Pythago-your-ass
Make your brain burn
With a physics madras
You thought you were all that
With your energy is mass
Until I popped that quantum
Cap in your ass

Every-thing is every-thing
Because every-thing is no-thing
No-thing is no-thing because
No-thing is everything

I am because I am
Not because I think I am
Not so much I think therefore I am
As I think therefore I think I am
But I always was
The original because
Nothing is the difference

When finally we opened the box
We couldn't find any rules
Our heads were reeling with a glut of possibilities
Contingencies
But with ever increasing faith
We decided to go ahead and just ignore them
Despite tremendous pressure to capitulate and fade

So instead we went ahead
To fabricate a catalogue
Of unstable elements
And modicums
And particles with non-zero total strangeness
For brief moments which amount
To nothing more than tiny fragments of a finger snap

And meanwhile we're furiously sleeping green
And the map has started tearing along its creases due to overuse
When in reality, it's never needed folds

And the air's withholding the sound
Of its wellspring
And our heads are approaching a density
Reminiscent of the infinite connectivity of the center of the sun
And therein lies the garnered wisdom
That has never died

Woke up at 8 to the rain coming in
Falling on my old red rug
I poured myself another wine and blew another line
And listened to your voice haunt my head
Maybe I mistook you for a diamond ring
Maybe there ain't no such thing
We shared a bed laughing
And a pint or two of gin
That don't mean were starring in the movies
Woke up at 8 to the sound of tears
Falling from our fool's gold eyes
I watched your pale spine from the corner of the bed
Its shape began to scream at heaven
Maybe I mistook you for a diamond ring
Maybe there ain't no such thing
We shared a bed, some laughs, and a pint or two of gin
That don't mean were starring in the movies
Woke up at 8 to the sound of birds
Singing a lonely old song

God damn, fuckin' old times dude. I love getting old. I'd love to know how Gnome is doing these days. Gnome was a quality human.

Hah, I kinda forgotten about Gnome. He was always our drunken comrade in arms. Good egg. I've mostly been thinking about what happened to Sparks and Vintage. Lots of old souls that I haven't seen in many, many years. It's a very nostalgic feeling for sure, and also kinda sad at the same time. So it goes, I guess.. Life moves on.

The walk is as sad as you let it be. Or as happy as your memories.
