Zim had a lot of focus on body horror and human ignorance. Star has some dark jokes, and humans who are more meh over someone having magic. I was actually releaved that they didn't try to go the route of keeping her magic a secret, and everyone playing events off as if there was a normal explanation, it was done to death in the 90s.
