  1. Jesus, what am I missing?! Glad Lupin is recording! Are they trying to make up for SAO's absence?!
  2. I see Black Clover on my recordings and it's just 30 minutes. But I look at the guide now and it shows it was 30 minutes, and shows JoJo in the schedule after it... but JoJo did not record. T__T What the hell, SuddenLink! I can't record if a show that isn't listed! Before it showed an hour long Black Clover and no JoJo when I set up the recordings! I suppose I could have manually recorded a single block of time for all the shows. But I was trying to just make sure the stuff I really cared about got recorded, since I don't have a lot of space. (I didn't record Food Wars.) I guess I'll have to watch JoJo via On-Demand tomorrow or whenever they put it on there.
  3. 12 minutes into the Lupin OVA? That's too far for me to rewind and catch back up during commercials. And well, it's 18 minutes in now after that commercial. I might as well just start watching from the beginning of my recordings at this point. I DIDN'T THINK I'D BE GETTING HOME THIS LATE! We ate at Top Knotch, the burger place in Dazed and Confused. Then we did the cake and presents, then the young and able-bodied among us walked through the Zilker Lights... park is lit up with lights and displays. Got in there at 9:50, and got back to my cousin's house at midnight or so? Stayed a while after that and then we had to drive back home. And something did not agree with me. So I didn't even eat any cake, and I forgot my pieces there! Was Nao working in the back at that burger joint?! Anyway I hope the shows have been good tonight and everyone has been having a good time. Why was Black Clover an hour long block on the DVR? Was it a special double length episode, or was it some kind of fuckery related to the Lupin OVA?
  4. They are giving up the near simuldub status of their shows with these foolish marathons!
  5. It would be a lot better than what we are getting! And I gotta' say, the fan service aspect has been overblown, and the cooking technobabble is wearing thin and losing its effect!
  6. Usually something you haven't seen before though. Well, not always, I suppose. But it's still something you choose to watch. I don't usually want to re-watch a bunch of episodes of something I only recently just saw. Especially in this day and age when we barely have enough time to watch, read, and play everything we want because we have so much entertainment! You sure can't get bored anymore these days.
  7. Stopped by Which Wich and got an Italian sandwich for supper tonight. People draw on the sandwich bags and the restaurant hangs them up. More proof that MHA is mainstream confirmed! We have Deku, All Might, Bakugo, Froppy, and Tokoyami represented, and they weren't all drawn by the same person. There's also some other anime characters, but I don't know what Yui that is and I don't recognize the character talking about developing a bond in the army. Oh, it's my cousin's birthday tomorrow, so I might miss some of the first shows, but hopefully not. We'll see.
  8. Black Clover Page 98 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, more and more elf possessors made themselves known. What's worse, Asta's anti-magic can't undo the possessions! Mereoleona has intentionally isolated herself from Asta and Zora, facing off against a powered up Ryha, possessed Rill, and several other possessed mages. Has she underestimated the elves and overestimated herself?! Meanwhile, Noelle is being forced to fight a possessed Luck. The elves have also expressed their goal to kill every human they come across. Can things possibly get any worse?! How will the Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights deal with this? Find out tonight, on Black Clover, on Toonami!
  9. Oh I see. Yeah it does make it less confusing for American audiences. But then we had stuff like Ginjo. I believe he changed from calling Ichigo by his first name to last name or something when he went back to his evil self after getting cut by Tsukishima and that was supposed to be a hint to that? But up until then the show hadn't maintained the concept. Certain characters would also call Ichigo either by his first or last name. If I recall correctly, Rukia would call him Ichigo and Orihime would call him "Kurosaki-kun." It is a bit of a conundrum indeed. So then Fire Force and Dr. Stone are doing the name thing that way. Interesting. Don't know if it's a change in policy by Funimation or it's up to individual dub directors. Also funny that Goku's family name is never even said in the dub, not even the Kai dub I don't think.
  10. Was that his actual face? I thought it was a transformation jutsu. Well, I suppose if someone is always wearing a mask and you don't know what they look like, taking the mask off can be a disguise in itself, kind of like Vangeance and Licht. But I thought Kakashi's face was never even revealed in the actual manga/anime? It was revealed after the fact J.K. Rowling style in some Kishimoto sketch I thought? And why did Kakashi disguise himself as a seeming child predator?
  11. Our cable bill and internet bill is 220 dollars. The cable companies are going to put themselves out of business if they don't change their pricing and business model, and traditional TV will go down with them. It seems like they always manage to find a way to inch up the bill or jack it up by quite a bit. We had it down to 200, then they magically got it up to 220. Now SuddenLink made it to where we can't get the bill changed in their office and have to call a number. I can't afford to buy DVDs and Blu-Rays of stuff all the time like I used to. Hell, I still haven't replaced all my VHS collection with DVDs, much less replaced the DVDs with blu-rays. At this point I just hold onto the VHS now so I remember that I own and like x movie and can plan to replace it with a DVD or Blu-Ray or watch it via streaming or something else. So streaming services are pretty good value for me. All-digital is a nightmare though. Because then you don't own anything and then shows and movies can disappear into history. There definitely still does need to be physical media going forward. That said, if I really, really like a show, I'd probably try to buy it on physical media. Though that can get expensive with a long-runner. But SAO was short when I initially considered buying it, then I saw Aniplex wants an arm, leg, and kidney for their stuff. Don't they realize they'd make more money selling more copies for less, than a few copies for a lot?
  12. Some streaming services are justifiable to exist and to subscribe to. Others, not so much. Indeed, every network rushing to get its own service defeats the original purpose of Netflix and Hulu, with their huge libraries made them a great value. Disney Plus is worth it for Disney's back catalog alone, to add to that Marvel, Star Wars, Fox, and their original series they are making. Funimation is worth it due to their huge library. They have the rights to the bulk of the anime out there. And they even have SAO on there even though it is an Aniplex show? I guess they must have worked out some kind of deal. Well, I'm watching it on Funimation now since we don't have the ad-free Hulu. But CBS All Access? Not worth it just to watch Star Trek when I don't care about their other stuff. I resort to unnatural methods... one not taught by a Jedi, to watch the new Trek shows.
  13. Well, that is interesting and somewhat unexpected to hear indeed. Near-dub premieres, month behind premieres, old dubs, all doing well. So maybe the streaming services don't have as much of an effect as we thought. Marathons are still an antiquated concept in this day and age, though. At least if they break up the normal schedule. And it has been proven this year that the ratings don't go down that much for holidays. I hope we stay with just a handful of marathons in 2020. Marathons for time filler in nonessential time slots like USA does with NCIS and Law & Order are fine.
  14. What if someone was a destitute paraplegic and Toonami is the highlight of their week and Demarco takes that away with one of his mindless marathons?
  15. Even after those two years of training and Nezuko sleeping? Plus, she got bigger when she turned into a demon, remember? Well then... moving along. Nothing to see here!
  16. Oh okay. I could have glanced away or maybe just didn't notice them as suggestive. I am going to be rewatching this episode later on regardless.
  17. Was that in this episode? I did not catch that.
  18. Is that supposed to be the same guy that was in the hoodie in this episode?
  19. He looks good. I'm super glad our new host isn't Orange Sherbert Tom. And that Tom didn't die.
  20. How old is Nezuko? Asking for a friend...a friend's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
  21. I think he means the girls in the show actually did something.
  22. Nice. Seems like you put it up too high, though. But I don't like having TVs on the wall anyway. And why do Nejire's breasts seem smaller in her hero costume than they do in her school uniform?
  23. I don't know about that. The characters definitely went through some stuff, and I feel like we learned more about them. I'd say they changed. But, it still has the whole weird James Bond kind of thing going on. I remember when M called the Daniel Craig Bond "a dinosaur from the Cold War Era." Okay, he could have been an agent in the 80s, but all the way back in the 60s? The Lupin characters have been around for years but haven't really aged. Then at the same time in this show we had backstory that showed that Lupin and Albert went back seemingly decades, and the characters having trouble adjusting to the modern world, with the internet and whatnot. Lupin would have to be in his 40s or 50s at least? Dunno about the others. But they don't look old or seem hampered by age at all. So they're old, but they aren't? But I do agree it is a show apart from the rest. Almost where it doesn't even feel like an anime. Sort of in the same category as One Piece, which is why that show has had trouble gaining traction in the U.S. as well. People don't seem like to anime that are more like western cartoons than they are anime.
  24. Really I think you are reaching to get that from that scene.
  25. I wouldn't put it past them lol. But they did seem to connect the last two series.
