Dragon Ball Super Episode 45 Discussion
ben0119 replied to Meilag32's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Evil Vegeta... well more evil than usual. So is that Slime Vegeta base level, Super Saiyan, or what? Because he's shrugging off Gotenks easily. Vegeta disappearing like Back to the Future. -

Ocean Vegeta is back as Slime Vegeta! This is priceless! Why did he miss with the Gallick Gun? Show of power? He hesitated to after Trunks. Wow... what a backstory. So they aren't powered up versions of the same people, but doppelgangers. Ooo Gotenks vs Fake Vegeta! Nice new Toonami block promo. -

I love Dandy and all, but a rerun to replace a premiere? *sigh* Demarco continues to drop the ball and disappoint, as the block continues to whither away.

Toonami Will Run A Cowboy Bebop Marathon For Christmas

I'd say things have changed in that regard. We actually have more than one or two new shows at a time. And at least, until the past couple years, they were making much better choices than ASA in things to air. But at the same time, they aren't really building up a library either. So most shows are one and done, and most reruns are just old ASA stuff. -
Piccolo was intended as a demon originally. Though, Piccolo and Kami were speaking some unknown language at the tournament. Could have been foreshadowing for the upcoming alien reveal during the Saiyan Saga. Goku was based on the character from Journey to the West, and basically a were-ape, one of many unusual but not alien creatures of the Dragon Ball world. Also you barely see any of the cartoon animal characters in Z, with the exception of the dog president.

Wasn't it also green at one point?

I swear it's almost like they get the worst shows possible so we can all get an education on how not to make an anime.

Toonami Will Run A Cowboy Bebop Marathon For Christmas
ben0119 replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I bought some of the original discs, sound track, and the movie from a flea market, which I still haven't seen. But I don't even want to watch it thanks to Demarco running the series into the ground here. I don't want to have anything to do with it. -

That's a matter of opinion. Others would disagree. And if you want to argue Toonami vs. ASA, Bebop was an ASA show through and through, not a Toonami show. Unless you consider this current iteration a fusion of Adult Swim/ASA and Toonami. Because the Dragon Ball franchise is arguably the most iconic for Toonami. Doesn't justify endlessly renewing it though. Lots of shows were iconic that didn't get renewed, like I said. No show is "owed" to be on the block even once, let alone countless times rerun. People? You mean DeMarco and the others running the block? That's the main reason they keep renewing it, because they're obsessed with it. Cowboy Bebop is doing about half the ratings it was when it got canceled last time, by the way. Yeah, people really want it here. You know, people were so unenthused, to put it mildly, by the Bebop marathon last week, that they set up their own marathon (of something new) to watch in its place. But oh it's so wanted and watched here. Sounds like that's your problem, not anyone else's. I agree with the concept of an on-TV airing motivating you to watch something more than streaming or owning it, since you "can always get to that later." I've got quite an un-tapped watch list myself... of stuff I've never seen before. This has been run into the ground for over ten years! Come the fuck on! -
True. And I did mention the degrees of separation with it being an anime/manga and not live action, the fact you're not seeing Watsuki himself onscreen. It's not like with an actor etc. Still, I don't know that I could ever put it out of my head whenever I try to watch or read it again. Maybe that will change with time. I don't know. Really makes me wish I hadn't dragged my feet with reading the manga though. I dunno I see most people as being pretty unforgiving of owning child porn. Though if they aren't aware of it and don't even know much about the creator, if anything, like it would be with many people, it obviously wouldn't be an issue. I mean, believe it or not, a lot of people don't look into creators or behind the scenes stuff. They don't care. They consume the content and that's enough for them. I just looked. The news about Watsuki's arrest is the first thing below the wikis and MAL page. And right underneath that is the announcement about the new manga going on hiatus. So yeah it's only once on the page but it's pretty prominent and hard to miss. Well there's obviously going to be a development. The cops have incontrovertible evidence, and Watsuki basically admitted to his guilt.

Shows can still have good art and animation these days, but modern day Toei is notorious for being cheap and lazy, and other studios just suck.

Toonami Will Run A Cowboy Bebop Marathon For Christmas
ben0119 replied to The1gairon's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Maybe not but it's still a waste of money. Other shows have been associated with Adult Swim and they didn't go back and get them. Once Trigun was gone it was gone, along with 6 other shows they lost the rights to in that year. They showed Final Act to finish things for InuYasha fans that hadn't moved on in the intervening years, but didn't get the original InuYasha back. With 167 episodes it makes for better back-end filler than the same 26 episodes shown a thousand times over. They also lost the rights unexpectedly because they didn't even know how much longer they had it. That's morbid incompetence right there. I bet they had a giant doomsday clock counting down to Bebop's rights expiring, though. Even FMA wasn't renewed, Demarco saying it was given its due and time to move on... but we can't do that with Bebop for some reason. "You and other people in the folder" aren't justification for airing Bebop. Also you can watch it via DVDs, Blu-Rays, or streaming services. You don't have to depend on Toonami to watch it. If you wanted to watch it that bad you'd have done that. Umm, those reruns were taken off precisely because they were doing shit ratings, Bebop included. Thats one happens when you run the same shows into the ground over and over. I'm allowed to get tired with certain things being oversaturated. Trust me I love zombies but sometimes enough is enough. No matter how much you like something you'll eventually get sick of it. -
Toonami Will Run A Cowboy Bebop Marathon For Christmas

Shouldn't have do that since I always have to bring it up every time Ranlsa or some other fanboy or fangirl gets into a butt-knot over my stance on this topic. HAHAHAHA. Nothing was more hilarious than when Demarco pounced on those HD tapes as soon as he could and then got slapped back down to the ground when it got canceled like 3 episodes into the run along with the rest of the ASA dead horses. So it would actually be quite satisfying if they never got to air the rest. Not really sure they are getting their money back with how shitty the ratings are and worthless the ad revenue is, either. WATCH BEBOP AND REVERSE MORTGAGE YOUR CATHETER! Because it's the principle of the thing. The show is being run into the ground to the tune of an all-night rerun as Demarco continues to indulge himself.
