  1. Yeah that's what it is. We're watching these shows weekly with everyone else and discussing them. It makes it like an event. Yep watch something on your own and you aren't likely to find good discussion for it. Especially if you aren't current with an ongoing series or watching a show that's finished airing, you'll run into spoilers, and people won't want to talk about the old episodes. The layout and user interfaces for Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, etc are pretty disorganized and chaotic compared to forums, and discussions have shorter shelf lives there. It's just not the same. So yeah there are other things to do, I have plenty of hobbies myself, and there are places for me to go here, and there are definitely other ways to watch anime, but the Toonami experience can't be replaced.
  2. Yeah there's always some excuse of a "story," often very contrived, for why the harem proceedings should take place. But everything you said is why I hate harem animes, besides the fact of how ridiculous the premise is, I often wondered if characters like Tenchi were gay or a eunuch. Then there's other cases where it's like WHICH ONE DO I FUCK HUR HUR. It's even worse when the guy has a chance to bang the girl(s) but backs out of it. The pandering completely takes me out of it, almost as bad as those moe-trash shows like Lucky Star or K-On that always inexplicably feature a cast of young girls for lolicon pedo-takus to lust after. https://awesomelyshitty.wordpress.com/2011/10/07/lucky-star-what-hath-god-wrought/ Lol step-sisters. They couldn't commit!
  3. By the way, if you'll check your DVR channel guide, you'll see that Toonami is airing episode 52 of Black Clover next week. So, it's been renewed and isn't going anywhere any time soon!
  4. https://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/mythbusters-jr/ https://www.popularmechanics.com/culture/a25718856/mythbusters-jr/ https://www.latimes.com/entertainment/tv/la-et-st-mythbusters-jr-review-20190101-story.html Guess all these kids must be Mary Sues! How could they learn all that stuff at such a young age?! *shakes fist* Harumph! Damn brats!
  5. The clown guy is an assassin? I thought he was just a psycho. And that chairman's organization apparently supersedes all of the world's governments, especially for all those card perks to work. Everyone with a Hunter Card has a license to kill, and people constantly kill each other all the time, Hunter or not, with no repercussions, but... a prison exists? A family of assassins' house is on a celebrity house tour, but if you go there you get killed. Ok...
  6. SAO was originally written in 2002. So maybe Reki thought things would be that advanced by then. I mean we do have VR now but it's nothing like SAO. So, he'd be like other sci-fi, like Top_Gun mentioned, that never set their date far enough into the future. He probably didn't set it in 2100 because he was going for a near future "this could happen in our word" type thing, don't think he was trying for anything too fantastical and evidently didn't want a super futuristic world with flying cars (when are those finally coming again?) that would just distract from the game stuff anyway. Some of those games have had a lot of shit happen behind the scenes though, like with FFXV. It's... not that much to learn. Again, I can see how underachievers couldn't relate, but, it's not that crazy, especially for someone that's into tech like that, takes classes, spends a lot of time on it because it's their hobby.... Also remember that this is supposed to be the future with more advanced technology, so Kirito quickly taking to this isn't that crazy. Don't judge him by our modern day standards, but a kid that grows up in the future with more advanced technology than we currently have. He was raised in this world. It's like my generation and the ones after, it comes natural. You act like young people being good with technology and videogames is some crazy thing... maybe you're just old? Like I said, he hit copy and paste!
  7. People make new OSes all the time. Well maybe not all the time, but it happens often enough. They did say this thing was the first of its kind, right? Or at least this level of realism and immersion? So it would have to be completely new technology and presumably OS. Bypass over 50 years of existing technology and with no help from existing technology? What the hell are you babbling about? Are you drunk? Anyway, the new season seems to be elaborating more on how SAO was made, so maybe more will be explained there. Well, there are plenty of real world visionaries and geniuses akin to Kayaba in the real world. Well Final Fantasy XI, the game world is on your computer or console, and the coordinates of your character and other data are on the servers. Maybe that's how other MMOs work, not sure. Probably would make more sense if the game world is in that game copy which is then installed to the device, but it seems like such a huge world to fit into such a small storage space. But, maybe the whole thing with it creating mental images somehow makes it take up less space. Not sure how it works! Evidently was never an issue. I'd imagine if Kayaba was able to create everything else described above, his network is probably pretty robust. Maybe they go into a "limbo" until connection is restored because I highly doubt that Kayaba wants people dying just from lost network connection. Of course, there's power outages and not much Kayaba could do about that. Though hospitals have back-up generators, because anyone on life support would die once power was cut. But, if you are going to be this nitpicky, I don't know how you could watch any sci-fi show. Just about every one has "holes" in it like that. Well, you've misunderstood what the show was trying to portray, obviously. But like I said, sci-fi probably just isn't for you. I know some people who don't watch sci-fi because "I couldn't believe that something like that could ever happen." Ok lol.
  8. I don't think so, it is a version of the transformation technique, after all. And remember when people turned themselves into shurikens and things? Don't think it's just an illusion. Anyway, the Naruto wiki doesn't say anything about it just being an illusion, but doesn't really explain what it is, either. So maybe Kishimoto never did, or they neglected to put that in the wiki write-up. Some spoilers in this video, if anyone cares, but yeah, it's definitely an actual transformation and not a just an "illusion."
  9. I was a big fan of Nostalgia Critic and the other producers for a while, myself. Found him through AVGN, who a girl I was friends with who worked at a game store told me about, he was Angry Nintendo Nerd back then. Those Anniversary Specials were cool, had no idea bout the behind the scenes stuff with that one. But, at the time, my computer was so shitty it got to the point I could barely watch the videos anymore, and several things that were going on with the site and producers were pissing me off. It was decided that Nostalgia Critic show would end, which, fine... but, the show to replace it was pretty bad, and the first episode was a Dark Knight parody. Talk about creative and branching out! Also kind of annoyed me that they were going out of their way to cast a black guy and a woman in it, simply because there were too many white guys on the site, I guess. Either way, that show was a bust. Phealous hooked up with that one girl who also did videos on the site, and I guess influenced his humor, because his videos became less funny, especially as she kept appearing in them. Just remember her videos being boring. There were some other shows that lessened in quality or changed in ways I didn't like, and just, in general, I decided to say fuck it and stop watching the site. I had no idea about the nightmare going on behind the scenes, or that JewWario was a rapist (glad I never became a big fan of his.) Still liked Linkara though and would probably watch his videos again if I ever got the chance. I liked Marsgurl's videos about animation. Never watched the anime person's videos much. Read Right to Left was good though. Still watch Cinemmassacre and AVGN of course. But yeah, who would have thought that Channel Awesome was a video producer sweatshop behind the scenes with horrible management. Is there anything that won't have a scandal and secret dark side at this point?
  10. Beaten again, lol. I either didn't click fast enough because I started the thread too late and was still finishing the OP, or it's down to that atomic clock you're running. Season 1 ends at 51 episodes instead of 52? That's odd. And I checked next week and the episode that airs is in fact 52! So looks like Toonami renewed it!
  11. Black Clover Page 51 Discussion Last time on Black Clover, Vetto, a villain with more death/defeat fakeouts than I can remember, FINALLY died, thanks to Yami's dimensional splitting Dark Magic attack. The arc seemingly ended, with the entire cast having gone through significant character development and back story reveals, with the exception of Gordon, who was inexpicably left at home. The Black Bulls bid farewell to the water folk, Kahono's dream to become an idol still intact. Her voice will heal? Where do we go from here? Find out tonight, on Black Clover!
  12. A C for this episode?! What the fuck?!
  13. Like I said they are learning to be ninjas, but still need to appreciate the people who help make the world work.
  14. Wait I just looked it up. Apparently Funimation has it. They aren't slow dubbers. So why is it taking so fucking long?
  15. I think Kayaba probably used himself as the gunniea pig. It's never been fully explained. Maybe it will be elaborated upon in Alicization. If he did have to make something as a stand-in, I doubt it's something anyone else could whip up in 2 years. Also I'm not sure if the virtual Aincrad world is stored wholly on Kayaba's servers or if some of it or a copy is in the game device. You had to buy a copy of SAO to play the game, but is the actual game on there or is it more like an access key? I can't remember. Not sure if it was said or not.
  16. Re:Zero would have been perfect. It's another example of Demarco bafflingly passing on what would have been a great show for the block. Hahaha.
  17. This is not a Gameboy, this is a revolutionary technology that interfaces with the human brain, putting an entire world there, and intercepts the commands you would usually give to your body and sends them to your virtual avatar. How are you possibly going to make something that can replicate the HUMAN BRAIN and do all this, to stand in its place? Produced externally? Maybe, at Kayaba's servers. There's no way anyone would be able to replicate Kayaba's proprietary first-of-its-kind one-of-a-kind technology, much less the SAO world. I'd also imagine the connection to SAO is cut once a user dies and the headset shuts off. Do you really think Kayaba wouldn't have thought of all this? It would seem it is you who doesn't understand the technology.
  18. Anyway, going by the reactions in this thread, it looks like I'm not the only one who likes Black Clover and appreciates how it has grown and what it's trying to do. Its backlash was unfounded!
  19. 1. Kirito didn't die and come back to life. There is a scene in the books where Kirito imagines himself losing to Heathcliff and then psychs himself up and says it's not going to happen, this was simply poorly communicated in the anime. If you mean when he beat Heathcliff, if it was a double KO and I forgot, he would have been spared either as a reward for beating the game by Kayaba, or simply because the game was ending right at that moment anyway. 2. Nothing, but some people can't leave well enough alone.
  20. What are you doing outside of your hive of scum and villainy?
  21. Difficulty social cues would be due to Asperger's, nothing to do with intelligence. Not sure what you mean by "analyzing a text" in this context.
  22. Projected onto something? Onto what, exactly? It's designed to interface with the human brain. Yeah, some hackers will just invent something that replicates that and "project" it onto it. Ok lol.
  23. I didn't say each ability was of equal difficulty, or even that Kirito didn't have difficulty hacking the game. Again, he used the admin console and copied and pasted some data. Whoopty-doo. I don't think he was 15 then either.
