  1. Not according to this. http://press.amazonmgmstudios.com/us/en/press-release/prime-video-announces-global-premiere-of-highly-an
  2. Honestly… Why should they try to pay as much as streamers when they won’t benefit all that much from throwing that much money at acquisitions? No anime they can possibly get will do as well as Family Guy. But it seems like they’re stuck in this limbo of not wanting to spend a lot of money but refusing to seek out affordable anime.
  3. Back in 2016 and 2019 respectively, Toonami did get the dub premiere of both seasons. Not only that, the dubs were exclusive to Toonami for a while but now it’s only on Hulu. Prior contracts might give Toonami an edge in negotiations but they could easily pass on the dub premiere and let someone else snatch it up. In which case it only makes sense for Viz to put it on Hulu first if Toonami doesn’t take their dibs. Toonami will more likely get it in the middle of 2026.
  4. There was a bidding war and honestly I don’t think Toonami will bid much for an acquisition ever again. One-Punch Man season 3 is finally airing on October and chances are even if Viz gets it, it will be exclusive to Hulu but might be on Netflix and CR then eventually Toonami. Chances of a Toonami premiere are slim to none. It’s quite interesting that Amazon is suddenly picking up anime directly again after Anime Strike died off. Now they’re even streaming dubs though Bandai Namco Filmworks probably pushed for the simuldub of GCuX and possibly funded the dub.
  5. Rest in the stars you absolute legend. His final appearance was kind of a perfect send off.
  6. In this case he was suggesting the Dreamworks Voltron show that was Netflix exclusive for years. Now that Netflix has cast it off, they could get it from NBC Universal Comcast and that would be neat.
  7. Here’s the Toonami Fan Community Summit on YouTube
  8. This is so wild. If ever get Space Jam’d I’m calling Luffy and the crew I would love that. Unfortunately in the current era it would probably just be a mobile game.
  9. About the only way I see them filling both 12:30 and 1am with a network premiere on May 10th is a double length Demon Slayer episode starting the Hashira Training arc. That would sync up to finish the same week as the Lazarus dub. That arc has 3 longer eps. What to do about the 5 weeks where eps 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 only fill one slot? I kid you not I expect them to run Oh My God, YES as filler. It’s got a sci-fi setting and has some anime inspired designs. With 10 quarter hour eps it fits snuggly into that space without starting another acquisition. Then everything 12-1:30 is done the same week as the Lazarus dub which makes it even easier to take 2 weeks off for Lazarus marathons on July 5th and July 12th. Then maybe it’s time for Primal season 3. One would hope by then they will have bought some dang shows!
  10. With double OP airing 1:30-2:30 starting next Saturday it’s all the easier to stick Lazarus subs at 1:30 or 2am whenever they feel like it.
  11. Sling still shows it on Saturday albeit at 12:30-1:30
  12. Back to 2 network premieres and Kai is out. I’d sooner believe they realized they can’t run Kai again than they were responding to negative feedback. Though they could have doubled up Naruto instead. Still gotta wait till 1:30 for the buried treasure but for some folks this is enough to convince them to watch all of 1:30-3:30 live, perhaps myself included now that I don’t have to get up as early on Sundays and Mondays. Interesting they chose to double up OP rather than Blue Exorcist. Do they have a good reason to finish Common Side Effects and Blue Exorcist season 1 the same week? I guess we’ll see. This also gives them a place to slip Japanese language Lazarus in replacing OP any given week so hopefully in May there’s two additional network premieres at 12:30 and 1am.
  13. Well it probably won’t get written off but a second season seems very unlikely.
  14. I’ll come back once all the new season of Righteous Gemstones is out. Then I’ll watch Creature Commandos and some other stuff they added since October and then drop it again. I can’t help but think they still would have turned this profit without writing off so many projects most of which frankly weren’t big budget projects. And they’re morons for not releasing Coyote vs ACME after inadvertently building interest by threatening to vault it. But the silver lining is that they probably won’t be so quick to write off projects that aren’t immediately successful now that Zaslav has dug WB/D out of the hole AT&T left them.
  15. CSE also ends in May the same week as Blue season 1. But we might very well be in for Subbed Lazarus taking one of the “premiere” slots. I don’t think it will be 1am but I would not put it past them to stick it ahead of One Piece shifting it down to 2am. Trailer was good and the dub clips sound decent so consider me still excited but with the major caveat that it’s all there is to be excited about till at least May 10th.
  16. 9 EST / 6 PST The VOD will be up after and later I’ll post it as just audio.
  17. Seems like this is probably the most appropriate thread to mention this... I'm getting together reps from Toonami Squad, Toonami Escape/Era and Toonami Faithful to have a roundtable discussion live on twitch this Friday at 9PM, actually probably starting at 9:15 Tune in if you're interested! twitch.tv/toonamifaithfulchannel
  18. I love to see the MAWS universe expanding and a Green Lantern animated series is a very welcome addition. Hopefully it's not limited to Max and gets to air on TV. Super Powers could be fun but I can't be the only one that smirked at the character (which I presume is Black Lighting) going by just Lighting. Sorry if it's not PC but Black Lightning is a way cooler sounding name and ya know... they could have gone with Superbolt. Let this one air on CN please. Starfire getting a solo series is pretty rad but I can't help but find it bizarre that Jessica Cruz and Starfire get animated series before Wonder Woman.
  19. Here I thought Sony being on the production committee (according to MAL, which does not list CN) that it meant Fire Force season 3 was more than likely not joining Toonami, so this is very interesting. Well the earliest we potentially get it is May 10th baring expansion or dropping a show mid-run. But it would be something at least.
  20. Nope. Not rewatching this on the block. I don’t hate it but I do not have any interest in rewatching it.
  21. At least they will be significantly more affordable than the OverWatch 2 skins.
  22. No more VO from Steve (even at a reduced rate) would be one the biggest cost saving measures besides not buying shows. It's no wonder why TOM and Sara don't talk as much as they used to but it is a wonder why they still have Steve read the game review scripts. How did they convince Ouwelleen that doing those things is important to the brand? Anyway... I'm loving Common Side Effects and compared to comedic anime parodies like Gemusetto: Death Beats and Ballmasterz it suits Toonami better by nature of being a dramatic on-going narrative. If it was encoring on the block on week 1 I might have been able to get behind that decision but throwing it on Toonami when half the season has already aired? That's something they have to do with acquisitions they have little control over, not an original series they could have aired from week 1. It's not like they actually cared about keeping IFG around after episode 4 (the one that was up for an Annie) re-aired on Feb 1st. And it sure is frustrating that they decided to kick IFG in favor of a different less fitting original series rerun (and probably are writing it off). Man I thought double Blue Exorcist was bleak but they could have at least built something worthwhile in April with Lazarus by speeding up BE but now they have no openings until the 2nd Saturday in May without expanding later. This is absolutely bullshit scheduling. And if they intended to kill 6 weeks with FLCL at midnight... PLAY THE ORIGINAL FLCL YOU ABSOLUTE MORONS!!! They have spent zero money on new acquisitions for Toonami this year and that is essentially half the year down the toilet.
  23. I see you are a fellow Mint Fantome and Dokibird enjoyer. Fuck Nijisanji, all my homies hate Nijisanji. I'm glad they both got out and are thriving.
  24. All recent press reports that have a blurb about Adult Swim do usually mention Toonami and associate Lazarus with it. As an example: (sorry about the formatting) About Adult Swim Adult Swim is the leader in adult animation and #1 destination for young adults for over fifteen years, offering critically acclaimed, award-winning series such as “Rick and Morty,” "Common Side Effects," "Robot Chicken," “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal,” “The Eric Andre Show,” “SMILING FRIENDS,” “My Adventures with Superman,” and the upcoming series “Women Wearing Shoulder Pads." Fan favorite anime block, Toonami, airs on Saturday nights and has expanded beyond acquisitions, producing original series including “Ninja Kamui,” “FLCL” and the upcoming series “Lazarus.” Adult Swim airs nightly from 5 p.m. to 6 a.m. (ET/PT) on its linear channel and reaches fans via Max.
