    Like with Sword Art Online, the villain's motive seems really clear. It annoys me that the heroes are so confused. If they find him and put out the cure, the world will have had to unite in order to do so and will have been given new perspective on how survival is more important than gain. If they fail to find him, the human race will be all but wiped out, saving the planet and other species from destruction for a few centuries at least. Win-Win
