Well, all 5 eligible shows made the list, but these numbers are still eh. http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-top-150-saturday-cable-originals-network-finals-11-14-2020.html I wish the news would take a break just ONE Saturday! And reruns STILL don't work at the top of the block! Maybe after the PRIMAL marathon on Thanksgiving Weekend, we'll come back with something new and they'll be kicked down to 3:30 or something? Yasha-Hime, maybe? Then again, if they were gonna start airing that in December, they would have announced it at the Final Pre-Flight, right??

DeMarco says tonight's Pre-Flight will be the last
OwlChemist81 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Now literally all Toonami is, is the TV block. Toonami Pre-Flight lasted from March 2015 to November 2020. Hell, I really would only give it about as far as September. While it was kinda cool that it sunsetted as an acutal online program leading-in to Toonami, once Toonami started with a rerun of Dragon Ball Super, I kinda stopped caring about it. And I really feel that it often had very little to do with Toonami as a whole. The Toonami Faithful Podcast, though unofficial, was, and is, living up to its name as often more faithful to Toonami. I do indeed hate to see Pre-Flight go. I guess now the only way Toonami will really communicate with its fans off-air is through streamed con panels on Adult Swim's YouTube channel? Well that, and the old default that is DeMarco's Twitter account. -

Yeah, certainly not the "low hanging fruit" I thought they would announce, like AOT The Final Season or Yasha-Hime! -
Speak for yourself; I've been QUITE active this 2nd half of the year, since I live in a red state! But I digress. I wonder how many total shows Toonami has aired in 2020? My Hero Academia Dr. Stone One-Punch Man Fire Force Food Wars! Demon Slayer Black Clover JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 5: Golden Wind Naruto: Shippuden The Promised Neverland Attack On Titan Sword Art Online: Alicization - War Of Underworld Dragon Ball Z Kai Paranoia Agent Mob Psycho 100 Ballmastrz 9009 Dragon Ball Super Samurai Jack (Season 5) Batman: Year One Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (Parts 1 & 2) Batman: Gotham Knight Assassination Classroom Gemusetto: Death Beats And so PRIMAL makes the 24th show/movie series on Toonami this year! Not bad for a year which was hilariously hobbled by a deadly pandemic!

gemusetto Gemusetto Death Beat(s) Discussion

It's just straight-up weird nonsense most of the time! But it isn't completely without redeeming qualities. Still, it's definitely the worst show on Toonami! That said, it may actually be the best show on Sunday nights, because Dream Corp LLC is complete garbage!- 94 replies

Gemusetto Death Beats Initial Thoughts?
OwlChemist81 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
Nepotism? Do you even know what that word means? Did he hire his children?? I didn't watch it last night, but thank goodness I've got Second Chance Sunday tonight at 12:15 AM CT! -
DeMarco says tonight's Pre-Flight will be the last
OwlChemist81 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I did dig a live performance or two occasionally on FishCenter, but the rest of the time, I thought it was a mess. The weird thing is with Crunchyroll potentially leaving HBO Max, this could be Toonami's chance to cement itself there, and if so, we might see the return of Toonami Pre-Flight in some form. I think it would be cool if they took a page out of Talking Dead's playbook and aired a discussion show after the block, but there's no chance in hell you're doing that live at 3 AM. They're gonna need lots of programming with Family Guy leaving, so who knows? Could be something that airs at a weird time like 11 PM on Monday nights... -

Well, looks like 2020 will effectively be a year without mechas, I guess unless you count BallMastrz... ...but they're BACK in 2021! And so are Kaiju!! Still waiting on you to pick up Gundam Thunderbolt in December one year in some form, DeMarco; its movie form would be great for a takeover night like we had back in August with the Batman nights! -

I wouldn't be surprised if they still livestream con panels. That might be all we get from now on. I wonder if it would be possible to re-invent Pre-Flight as a short TV show? -
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/fire-force/episodes-25-26/.161712 4 stars--a very positive review! This was truly Fire Force at its finest, even if the only battle was the one within! Next week we finally get to episodes I haven't seen, and they're wearing masks, so oh hell yeah for that! Very on-message for 2020!

You know, this actually kinda makes sense in a bizarre sci-fi way! Higa's gotta nut up and go down that chute!! https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/review/sword-art-online-alicization-war-of-underworld-part-2/episodes-1-2/.161995 I saw most of this episode since it aired live during a set break from a band I was seeing, but I was also a bit distracted by the fact that the bar I was in was playing one of my favorite songs of all time: Seal's "Kiss From A Rose", which I sang loudly while masked while also trying to watch this episode. But, I digress--4 stars! Yes, I agree! For a lot of reasons, this episode was much better than the previous one, even though this was totally Bercouli's Kamina moment! It was thankfully devoid of the "rapey" content which probably knocked it down a notch. An epic sacrifice, and though it was one that only drove back the enemy, it was not completely in vain! And that revelation about Fanatio at the end was also quite precious! At least Kamina never got to do that to Yoko!

It would seem it may have done a little better, since it got a better lead-in than on Toonami. "Adult Swim’s late-night line-up performed as follows: DRAGON BALL at 0.21/393K, SWORD ART UNDERWORLD at 0.17, FIRE FORCE at 0.17, ASSASSINATION CLASSROOM at 0.16, GEMUSETTO at 0.12/0.11, NARUTO at 0.11/207K, and DEMON SLAYER at 0.09/201K." Well, unfortunately no rebound for the late night part of the block. And DBS at Midnight clearly ain't working!
