Commander McBelch
Did you ever notice that a can of "Bacon and Beans" only has one square inch of bacon in it? Let's wham this... I just added 1/5 pound of bacon to a one pound can. Serves three.
Real_AirCooledGirl
That's what's up. If I'm going to eat pork and beans (bacon or otherwise), I expect some MEAT in it. Not canned beans, but when I was a teenager, my grandfather would cook baked lima beans with pork chops. He'd start it in the afternoon and the smell would permeate the house. By dinnertime, we'd chow down on it. And it was fucking GOOD! Haven't had it in a long time; would love to again.

I do prefer fresh beans over canned. I'm also a very impatient guy. The can is a trade off.
Real_AirCooledGirl
I have some fresh beans but I don't use them. You have to soak them before cooking, and that takes too long for me. I'm not what you'd call a patient woman.
