i went way too hard today playing ice

i felt some uncomfortableness in my left knee after falling to the ice once and stayed out the rest of the game.

prob didn't almost tear anything but something in my knee is clicking BUT it doesn't hurt to put any weight on it, just.. an odd sensation

anyone ever tear an acl? what to expect if it does happen?

Posted

i don't know really but i imagine it is painful af and you would not be able to walk

and if the odd sensation doesn't go away, maybe go see a doctor???

i know its hard... cuz sports, but please try to be careful and not hurt yourself :/

I've played plenty of sports and have never torn or broken anything. When you're an exceptional athlete, you know how to avoid injury, so I can't really relate to this story. Not too many people get injured playing hockey though.

Im walking on it now playing pokemon go with some friends. It doesnt feel odd at all unless i bend over or crouch down and try to get back up. Very odd.

still, monitor it for a little while and if there are any changes for the worse or if it doesn't seem to be going away, get it looked at

try to avoid putting much stress on it for the time being

I would go get it checked out. Even if it isn't torn, you could have a bone chip or other condition which can cause problems in the future. It is worth the effort to have it looked at by a good doctor.

Were 26 -10 this season. Im prob tied for best on my team and we always suffer when me or my boi are out. I think we assist eachother  on like 50% of our goals

It feels like a chip tbh because it clicks every 50 or so steps

Uh huh sure.

Well these are some Jay Cutler antics. If you tore it, I can't blame you for not getting back on the ice, but "almost" tearing it, means you just dodged a major injury, and it's time to get back out there and score, especially if you're 27, which is the prime athletic age for human males.

I think you definitely do contribute, but I get the feeling "best on the team" is a stretch because then you would have been fighting to get back on the ice instead of settling in realizing that the team could manage.

Well, I hope it checked out alright. It could be something as simple as fluid build up from the impact, you might have to have it drained. Glad to hear you are getting it looked at, that is the right thing to do.

my gf tore her acl

you wont know the first 3 days even unless you went to a doctor

but if you are hearing clicking everytime then that is a sign of atleast acl damage

its only clicking every 50 or so steps. somtimes it doesnt even do it at all

going up stairs is definitely doing it

when she tore it; like in a week it swelled up and going up the steps was incredibly harder to do than even walking

if it doesnt swell up in a couple days it might just be a bruise actually

usually a salt (espom?) bath helps muscle recovery

as the day has went on the strain has actually gotten a little less noticeable

especially when getting up from sitting etc

i mean

my right knee has actually always clicked when i get up, im not sure what injury i had as a kid that did that -but it never hurt

i literally went down on my knee full force today playnig, so maybe that jarred something loose?

Idk, it didn't hurt when i got up, just clicked (the click hurt), and once i was standing on the ice again it stopped hurting - but i got off becuase i wasn't sure if i did anything or not

anyway

i tried jogging a bit ago ( no pain ) but again, getting into a sitting position or croching causes it to click and result in a quick jabbing pain

pain is probably a 4 out of 10 id say?

yea either way im going to my doc tm just to check it out

he said over the phone a few mins ago that it's most likely a pull or sprain and that i should avoid running and playing for a week or so (unless i heavily bandage my knee and wear one of those knee brace things under my pads

i have a game in 2 days and I'd like to play tbh so we'll see

I always liked how friendly this place is.

In other news, nothing. Saw my doc at 9, It's sore and strained. But if I were to not go easy for the next week I could actually tear something.

Aha!  I was right.

I'm pretty sure I got a sprained knee when I got attacked by a single vicious bee while in the Crazy Horse parking lot.

Never went to the hospital or anything and family thought I was faking it because I don't like going to tourist attractions.

See i fell on the ice in a way that normally doesnt happen. Both of my knees went right down on the ice and they both made contact at the same time before any other part of my legs. It was like a quick jolt. It hurt kinda for a sec ans i got back up.... but my knees felt weak. It was just an odd fall. I would have shattered my knees without protection

did the same thing back in middle school only I fell knee first on the gym floor solid concrete

both right and left hit down hard and now I have to be careful moving around otherwise I'll pop them and it hurts like hell

sometimes when i sleep, i unbend a locked knee and it pops followed by excruciating pain that makes my toes buzz

its a very alarming way to wake from a deep sleep

i got no cool story though... just bad knee problems :(

I used to create myself in Madden all the time, and one time I torn my ACL in the game.

So from experience, I can tell you that you're definitely out for the season.
