MasqueradeOverture
For those who don't know what this means, it's that not only is John Williams scoring the entire film (when it he only partially scored The Force Awakens due to retirement), but Rian Johnson wants to edit the movie entirely around the emotional beats of the score. This has never been done before with a Star Wars film, nor is it a common practice as usually the music is scored after the film has a final edit reel. However, Williams has taken part in something similar to this before with the last 15 minutes of E.T. This is the approach Rian Johnson wants to do for the WHOLE. FUCKING. MOVIE. Johnson might not just be responsible for the best episode of television ever (Ozymandias)...but perhaps what may very well be the greatest Star Wars movie. I trust this guy. Don't fuck it up. viperxmns
Certainly sets an intresting challenge, but it's kinda cool to give Williams the reins in that way, if he wants to do it like that
ben0119
Whoa, that sounds pretty awesome. How is that going to work, though? John Williams would still have to know the story to know what to score, wouldn't he? Maybe read the script?
