after Toonami's Edit of the second fire force Opening
ben0119 replied to CountFrylock's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
I can't remember if it was on Ask.fm or twitter Twitter and don't have the link handy, but DeMarco claimed that they have to edit the OPs and EDs to fit in the Toonami packaging, and I asked him why ASA did the same thing when they had no Toonami packaging and he said something along the lines of he doesn't know but that is why Toonami edits the OPs and Ed's and this is how we do things blah blah blah. Sounds like bullshit to me, though. But what about the casuals that don't go on YouTube? They'll never hear the full song. -
I could have sworn it was Sonny Strait. If there has been no indication from Toonami, Strait, or anyone else that it is, that is odd. But a good impression of Strait's Tom by Steve Blum, if that was the intention. But I don't know why they wouldn't just get Sonny Strait back.

New Schedule for 1/4/20- Promised Neverland Reruns
ben0119 replied to 3ngag3's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
So Lupin is just being replaced with a rerun? You have failed us again, DeMarco! But at least it's a rerun of something good. And I see that Promised Neverland season 2 is indeed coming, but not any time soon, so I'm not sure what the logic is here. I guess they are rerunning it for the hell of it. I don't get the point of switching Dr. Stone and One-Punch Man. It is a damn shame they did not use this chance to move up Demon Slayer. It doesn't deserve to be on so late and sure as hell Food Wars should not be given priority over it. While I have warmed up to Food Wars and taken a liking to some of the characters, especially Megumi, I will not be heartbroken if it leaves, and while the characters and relationships in Boruto are better done than in Naruto, I will not be despondent if that never comes back either. I actually thought we already went to season 2 of Food Wars when the OP and ED changed and a new arc started, but apparently the first season wasn't just 13 episodes like I thought. I really hope that Demarco isn't thinking premiering the newer seasons of Food Wars is some killer get. I saw that some people were mad that Boruto didn't come back to replace Lupin which is pretty fuckin funny. They actually believed DeMarco when he said "I'm sure it will be back at some point." Because that sounded real promising lmao. Anyway, I hope that they have some good picks coming, since we just lost a premiere... -
Don't pay too much attention to the critics. I was kind of bummed when I saw the reviews myself, but I ended up quite enjoying it. I've never taken what critics say as the be-all end-all. Though if it is a reviewer I follow and trust and share some tastes, that is one thing, or a friend who shares similar tastes and/or knows my tastes. It will never boil over. Ever since 1999 it has been CIVIL WAR, WITHOUT END! Though I do wish the people who don't like the current content would just move on instead of bitching endlessly. Whenever I saw a movie or show I didn't like I would generally forget about it and move on. I never felt the need to complain daily about it for YEARS like people did with The Last Jedi.

Fire Force season 2 confirmed - First visual revealed
ben0119 replied to Jman's topic in Toonami & [adult swim]
It is fine for Okubo to tell a completely different kind of story with Fire Force than he did with Soul Eater, with a different tone and art style, atmosphere etc. I don't think creatives should be put in a box to just make one kind of story. That said, the writing should at least be good. But for whatever it's worth, after a good introduction, but some stumbles with the rushed clumsiness of the Hibana and Rekka arcs, ever since the arc where Benimaru and his company were introduced the writing has been pretty solid. Hopefully it can continue that trend of quality. Black Clover is way better than a lot of people will give it credit for and has only gotten better over its run. It's also arguably better executed that a lot of the shows that inspire it. -
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/daily-briefs/2019-12-28/sword-art-online-alicization-war-of-underworld-anime-last-season-confirmed-for-april/.154870 https://comicbook.com/anime/amp/2019/12/24/sword-art-online-alicization-season-3-war-of-underworld-return-2/ https://www.anime-recorder.com/program/130692/ According to posts in that Reddit thread they are having production difficulties, and the Director of Photography/Compositing Director Kentaro Waki was having issues with depression. INB4 he's depressed because he's working on SAO LOLOLO! I found the tweets they were talking about. It seems like he took on too much work and was getting burned out, and felt he wasn't getting enough social recognition for his work. Also, his parents seem like assholes. But it looks like he started feeling better after the outpouring of messages of support and the birthday wishes. Hopefully Mr. Waki will feel better going forward and whatever difficulties the studio is having can be helped by the delay. I also read that things that appear later in the arc will be difficult to animate so that could be part of it too. Here is an interview with him from back in January discussing the sort of work his job entails. It is interesting. Seems like the guy has an attention to detail and wants things to be high quality but not over-produced. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interview/2019-01-09/sword-art-online-alicization-director-of-photography-kentaro-waki/.140449 I'm not sure how this delay will affect a potential Toonami airing, if DeMarco will want to get the first 12 episodes as soon as they are available and he can work them in, or just wait til all the rest are out and then get them.

Sword Art Online III: Alicization Anime Discussion Thread
ben0119 replied to ben0119's topic in Anime & Manga
Ep 12 - So they are just logged in as generic dark knight accounts, and they're attacking the Dark Territory army too?! Just ripped his own eyeball out. Dude is hardcore. Put Alice to sleep with that spell, but she didn't drop her sword. Ok then. That expression from Miller, wtf lol. So, an alliance with the pugilists. I had a feeling that might happen. And it's obvious Miller never cared about the Dark Territory Army in the first place, but he gives even less of a shit now that he's captured Alice. Asuna healed that arm pretty easily. Must be the goddess powers. Vassago Casal? Why does his REAL name sound like an RPG name? So I guess the VRMMO player army raised Lisbeth have not arrived yet. But Sinon will be a big help! Again, Shino-non, whatever that means. -

Ep 11 - So I was wrong about that leading into a recap. Sleeping near four beauties? I don't know if that sounds like something Alice would actually say. I would think building a bridge would be much safer and more effective. But it is a bottomless pit, so it might be tricky and take some time. But stringing ropes across is not a good idea either. Of course, Miller doesn't care about casualties. Are the dragons all tuckered out? I feel like someone just flying across with a dragon and cutting all the ropes in one go would be most efficient. Reset the Underworld to real time, and have a bunch of American players log in unknowingly on behalf of the Dark Territory. Not a bad plan. How is possible to log in to the world with conventional VR equipment though? I thought it had to he that STL thingy. Ooh this is a lot of Engrish lol. That fat guy LOL. And how did a layabout fatass that plays videogames all day get a hot blonde girlfriend? Anyway, gamer stereotypes lul. Why was Shino sleeping on the floor? Why did Yui send Shino and Suguha ahead separately? I guess to send the message to Kikuoka to check on the speed of time in the Underworld. And maybe Yui thought it would be safer to not send one of them alone to do that. They're mere high school girls! Why the hell was Higa not watching things more closely? I swear if he and Kikuoka weren't so incompetent so much of this wouldn't have happened. I think your big mistake here was having Lisbeth give the speech... Lol they have an inferiority complex over the SAO survivors. So VRMMOs have a stigma due to SAO. We already knew about the SAO survivors going to a special school. Makes sense counseling would be required but forcing meds isn't cool. And they are on a potential criminal watch list? Because of the murder guild players I guess? But those were a small minority of players. I also wonder if those players were able to be tried for murder for killing players in the game. Hahaha people think that VRMMO players don't contribute to society or pay taxes and social security! Well, at least Shino makes money playing GGO. Who is the person with the fairy? Looks like the rest of Yuuki's party all survived? Were cures found for their conditions or are they all still slowly dying? I recall from that arc's ending that at least one of them was cured. Yup real pain and no way to log out. But at least you don't die in real life you die in the game! I bet Miller did not have Critter tell the American players that though. Okay it's 5:30am in Japan and between noon and 3:30pm in the U.S. But what day of the week is it? Do none of those American players have jobs? Lisbeth was able to turn the speech around... but I still don't think she was the best candidate to give it! -
I saw a lot of critics were not high on this movie. They said it had too much fan service and fan pandering, over-stuffed and rushed. I didn't feel that the fan service was overdone. It felt like it made sense and fit in and didn't detract from anything. The movie's pacing didn't feel rushed to me or like it was "over-stuffed." I read people saying that it's nonstop action, but there are definitely quiet moments. I will say this. A lot of things that don't sound good on paper come off better in the way they are executed in the movie. There were also a few things that happened and directions it took that I wasn't really a big fan of the idea of before the movie came out. Talking about all the different theories and possibilities for direction of things. So, I was a bit dismayed when I saw the critical reaction to the movie. But, I ended up loving the movie myself. It felt like a dream almost, it was a quite a ride. I had a lot of fun and there were some very emotional moments, and some very fitting send offs for various characters. Lots of emotional moments in the movie. I think the storyline was wrapped up satisfactorily enough. Sure, there could have been more callbacks and references and stuff, but with some people saying there were too much already, I think it was fine. It didn't feel over-stuffed to me, in any case. If I wanted a bit more, it was probably a good balance. Spoiler rambling, in no particular order - Anyway, that's all I can think of for now. I got on a tangent, but there was a lot of stuff to talk about with this movie. It felt like a dream at times, it was definitely a ride. Maybe I will like it more, or like it less, with time and repeated viewings, but for now, I'm mostly pretty happy with it, and I'm glad, because I was worried by those reviews.

I thought the whole point of Toonami was having DeMarco, Gill, and the other Toonami gurus picking out the shows and scheduling things. Granted, they don't have absolute power, but they have a lot of input. If DeMarco truly had "no control," this would just be ASA with a Toonami coat of paint. A block that much fewer premieres, even lesser quality of show picks in many cases, little to no promotion or advertising for the shows, and even more baffling scheduling decisions. We called them "schedule monkies" back then, for a reason. There is a marked difference between Toonami now and ASA before. The Toonami crew a definitely a big part of that. On the other hand, I have noticed that whenever viewers like something, DeMarco will take the credit, but if something pisses them off, he will say something like "wasn't my call," "out of my hands," "not in my control," was this other department's fault, or the licensors, etc. So he is a bit full of it. Granted, he probably can't singlehandedly get Adult Swim to change its ways with regard to antiquated scheduling and ratings stuff, but it's not that he has "no control." He's in a powerful position at not just Toonami, but Adult Swim overall. The funny thing is, Adult Swim is, or was, usually regarded as progressive and forward thinking in how they do things, or at least not caring about doing things the way other networks would. But I fear they, and other traditional networks, hold onto these antiquated ways at their own peril.

Weekly grind? Toonami is one of the highlights of my week and I greatly look forward to watching and discussing the shows live! Maybe you should cut some crap from your weekly viewing, like Food Wars and Shippuden. Of course, the madman DeMarco put Food Wars in a buzzkilling, momentum derailing position right in the middle of the block, when it has no business being on before Demon Slayer, and should be after Black Clover at the earliest! So that wouldn't save you any time to skip Food Wars during the live airing. But if you watch via DVR it is no issue. Of course, if you're a completionist like me, this isn't such a viable option. But when watching live I typically feel like the night flies by honestly. On the other hand, watching stuff recorded later on feels like it takes longer? It's odd.

Space Dandy and Dimension W were a testing of the waters and proof of concept for the simuldub. And true simuldubs, not a few weeks behind like on Funimation Now. Then after being satisfied with the results on Toonami, Funimation started the simuldub thing and left Toonami out in the cold. Kind of feels like a backstab. But at least the Chicken Littles of the time were wrong about simuldub FuniNow shows never being able to be on Toonami or having to have super long waits. Still sucks that Toonami got kinda screwed over like that though. Then again I haven't followed the ratings much for a while so I don't know if dub premieres do better than dubs a few weeks old, and how they compare to months or even years old dubs. But it's the principle of the thing! And it just seems like a bad move on DeMarco's part to pointlessly make the dubs fall further behind Funimation Now or wherever else, regardless of how many episodes are left. I don't watch ahead because I'd rather discuss on this forum, than elsewhere where there's probably little traffic, or spoilers all over the place, not to mention likely worse communities in general. There's also the fact that I've got it so built into my routine to watch Toonami that I am guaranteed to watch these shows. I find it difficult to watch shows off-Toonami, both to make time and to remember to watch. I still have a hard time remembering to watch stuff on streaming sites, which is why I fell off with NXT for a long time until it started coming on USA. TV I almost never forget to watch and if I do it gets recorded and is right there on my show list. I also have tons of other stuff occupying my time like DVR backlog, other shows I watch on TV, YouTube, website articles, and other hobbies, etc. But it's still a frustrating situation that DeMarco has created, tantalizing and tempting some viewers. Some will have the patience to wait, or preference for Toonami viewing and discussion, or lack of time, or lack of access to the streaming services, or maybe bad internet, to prevent them from watching ahead, but not all.

The skipped and shortened intros suck, and like you said, some of them even originally that way, for some American shows, but I'd rather have more commercials than those mostly godawful music videos DeMarco airs. -
dr. stone Dr. Stone Episode 16 Discussion!!!
ben0119 replied to OwlChemist81's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Must have been. There's no way they would misname a character in the credits. It's funny too because I even re-watched a few segments multiple times, like her intro, because I was confused if she was an astronaut pretending to be a singer, because Yakov had never heard of her. But she was an actual singer who was pretending to be a diva LOL. At first I was mad because they made the American character an obnoxious celebrity space tourist, but it turned out to be a joke. Her evil face was funny, too. I also watched to the song part a few times over. But yeah even with re-watching parts of the ep a few times I still swore I was hearing Milly. Anyway, I edited and got rid of the other usages of "Milly" in my post lol. It makes me want to re-watch the episode in whole to make sure I'm not going deaf or crazy! And I almost never use captions except for CW Shows sometimes. I often find myself backing up a scene after turning on captions to understand what the hell someone said. I thought it was just a DC thing, but its present in Supergirl, Batwoman, as well as the new Charmed. Terrible mumble-mouths on that network! -

Lul I heard Milly when I watched it for some reason. In the credits I saw Lillian and figured I must have misheard... every time apparently. Because I think her name is said multiple times by different characters. I thought I edited every instance of Milly to Lillian in the post, but I guess not lol. -

I'm Not a Scientist, but it was my understanding that new organisms could be created via selective breeding or genetic modification that would affect or block certain genes. I don't see how that would work with an already living organism, to alter their genes or the phenotypic manifestation or whatever in real time. -

Ep 10 - Uhh pretty sure we just saw those two creepy scientists again. Still want to know what their deal is. I know we saw Raios' fluchtlight glitch out... so seems he must he an AI, but I'm convinced those two are connected to Humbert and Raios somehow. So there is a limit to how much Asuna can use the god hax powarz. I'd get on my knees for this goddess. Asuna's boobs seem smaller now. Is it her avatar in this world, or just the goddess outfit? Hahaha Alice thinks Asuna is a spy and now the two are fighting. Bercouli is loving it LOL. But he breaks it up. Yeah she doesn't look like someone from the Dark Territory and she isn't a blasphemous cosplayer, Alice. Well Asuna why don't you just destroy all their beliefs and all that they know lmao. I thought all Asuna had to do was show up and encourage Kirito and he would wake up. What happened to that?! Hmm, Asuna, he didn't snap out of it. Maybe you should try something else. A mole? Is it those creeper scientists we saw before? And we saw them again this episode. Can't be a coincidence. Why the fuck were the Dark Territory Superuser accounts left unlocked? I don't think a mole did it, since Higa knew about it. So it sounds like Higa is just an idiot. Either that, or he's a mole too. You already told them that their world is Underworld, and yours is the "real world," might as well tell them everything else, Asuna. You want Alice to decide for herself? I don't think she will leave this world if she had the choice. And how would she? Unless that other robot Higa made is super lifelike, which is a bit tough to believe he could make something like that. Yeah, Rath and Higa's group are both bad. I don't know how this world could be protected though. Who else can run this place that can or would protect it from bad actors? If they knew anyone rich... oh yeah, Asuna's family are rich. Well, maybe... I dunno about the real world being dirtier and uglier. This world is pretty savage, especially the Dark Territory, with goblins wanting to eat people or sell them... well it could come off that they wanted to sell Selka as a sex slave, so I guess the real world doesn't have Underworld beat there. I guess there's little to no pollution in this world? But for the most part, the real world is more civilized, I think. Certain parts of it, anyway. But yes I'm sure the main cast would love to be friends with the Underworld folks. Now Asuna's boobs seem bigger in her nighty? Ask permission to see Kirito... bitch don't even. If Reki is implying that Alice has romantic feelings for Kirito I am going to be annoyed... Wtf does Ronie have on her head? Ronie get the fuck outta here lmao. You have no claim to Kirito! Yay Liena is back! I thought I saw her at the meeting. Trade info. Looks like we are setting up for a recap episode. Won't be too bad with these cute girls. Well, judging by the next episode's title "Heartless Decision," maybe not. I guess the convo will happen mostly off-screen. -

Ep 9 - Was that Asuna in the OP fighting Vecta with Alice? I swear she was not in there before. Pugilists, they are basically like the monks from Final Fantasy, it seems. But in this world what are called monks have magic. Well, the ogres were wolfmen, after all. This guy reminds me of someone... Koga? Oh cool, that cute pugilist girl is an actual character and not just a background extra. Nice, I liked her look. NOOOOO DON'T ATTACK SHEYTA! Well, she only got half her arm sliced off? She can survive that, right? So, Sheyta has a curse of murderous impulse. Anyone she gets into a fight with will get cut to ribbons. But it seems here she is able to control herself in this battle? I thought for sure all those pugilists were dead. Maybe she isn't as murderous as she thinks, or maybe she's become able to control the curse over the years, or Quinella was lying. Yes, give her a sword that can cut through anything. You're lucky Sheyta didn't rebel against you, Quinella. He's mad that his comrades are still alive?! And why didn't he start fighting her right after he saw what she did to two-toned hair girl? All those injuries to his comrades could have been prevented. He's remarkably hard. Wow, she lost clothes but managed not make it fan servicey? Looks like a fighter because she is half nude like you guys lmao. Stop looking so sleepy. Annnnnd saved. I'm glad he lived. This guy seems cool. Escapes on the dragon lmao. Go PK... but you are killing actual people this time you sicko. I thought Ronye and Tiese couldn't so much as kill a single goblin? She's doing pretty well for herself here. Though this asshole is toying with her, she at least noticed him sneaking up on her. Senpai? Did she get that expression from Kirito? YES, IT'S ASUNA, FINALLY! And as Goddess Stacia... how fitting. KoB... Knights of the Blood Oath? I knew it, this guy WAS in Aincrad! But he's not the other Death Gun. We know what both look like in real life and they aren't the same guy. So, he was wrong thinking he was the last of Laughing Coffin, this guy is from another murder guild, or was going on killing sprees on his own. Either way, at least now we know how he knows Kirito, and Asuna too, apparently. -

Ep 8 - Yup, the mage girls definitely got killed too. Send him back to the grasslands. Eh, so not just Renly, but Eldrie failed too? But that camp only got attacked because Renly left his position... Kill 3000 of their own army to get more energy... sick bastards. Eh, making the orcs sympathetic? And the ogre guy just wanted to live a peaceful life in the grasslands. Well, I guess it's not just those two Vecta killed that aren't all bad. Some evil curse spell. If swords and armor can't stop it, what can? A spell? Of course there is no more spatial energy left. Eh, but it seems like Alice's blade petals would be the perfect counter for these flying worms thing? Does it still count as a "sword" in that form? So, Eldrie was able to counter some of the worms, but most of them just hit him? So he drew them all to himself. Was that Eugeo's arm and hand pushing Eldrie? What? Eldrie liked Alice all this time? Really? Well, he's dead. Can't say I expected that. Sucks he never got his memory back. But he remembered his mother at least. Can Alice use his weapon? THE WRATH OF ALICE UNLEASHED! Yeah, you ain't bein' the Emperor of shit, bitch. What happened there? She killed those girls to try to save herself? But did she get away? Great, now Vecta is excited. Well, I hope you've been watching all the suffering going on in this world, Kikuoka. You should be charged for crimes against humanity. Now let's just hope Alice doesn't get captured and nothing happens to Bercouli. I have a bad feeling about him going along. -

Ep 7 - Was this coward character really needed? Yeah, the goblins have broken through the lines and there have been casualties thanks to you, asshole. Tiese and Ronye can't defeat a single goblin? Maybe I am iffy on the timeline but wouldn't they have been training for years now? And if they are so incapable, why did Alice put them in charge of protecting Kirito? Of course a goblin is here. Defective knight lmao. And before anyone gets the idea that if Renly wasn't here, Kirito and two girls would be dead, the goblins wouldn't have gotten here if it weren't for Renly running off. So he's a coward because he accidentally killed his friend in a fight? And why were they using real swords in a competition anyway? Hmm, release recollection and the two bladed boomerangs whatever they are combine seeks weaksauce to me! But at least Renly returned to his duties and killed that goblin chief! Are all those red lines from Bercouli's ability? All the minions are dead, then! That's what you get for sending all of them at once, dumb bitch! It's not just a matter of where they were born, Alice. I don't think you can negotiate with goblins and orcs, and the other Dark Territory crazies. And the only two decent people in the Dark Territory that could have made the others see reason are dead! Taking many lives for the sake of one? The Dark Territory aren't after Kirito. They just want to invade and plunder and destroy. This is war! You have no choice but to protect the Human Empire, Alice! Ah, so that's what she was planning. A major death beam! Alice the grim reaper lol. Are all the cute mage girls dead too? T__T A million waifus cried out, and were suddenly silenced. -

Ep 6 - That Dark Mage leader looks like a devious bitch. Yes, we had to be reminded that that's Alice. Why do the ogres look like wolfmen? Dunno if she is an actual character or an extra, but the lady pugilist left of the chief is cute. Is this what they were talking about as the biggest, most beautiful battle? How many characters with names will actually die? Oh wait, Renly is a guy. That's right, he's without a shirt in the OP. I remember thinking he was a Dark Territory character when I saw that shot of him in the OP. I still maintain he looks like a green-haired Sinon, though. Deuselbert should have brought a whole WAGON of arrows! And didn't he have an ability that didn't even require physical arrows and just shot arrows of fire? Haha, that's Eugeo's master from the school. He finally gets some lines! A voice actor was hired! Now, where is Liena? Booo CGI clone orcs! Damn smoke bombs! Those two little bitches. Didn't you learn anything from your encounter with Kirito and Eugeo? Leave Kirito alone! They ended up being right about Renly though. He ran away! What the hell. The Giant chief glitched out and went berserk? And caused Fanatio to freeze up? Some kind of interaction with the fluctlights? Does blood really explode from your limbs if bones get broken like that? Either way, what happened to Dakari looked painful. But at least Fanatio was saved. But is this the first named character to die? Even though we didn't get her name and what she looked like til just now. Also, Fanatio and Deuselbert should probably put their helmets back on, and anyone else, if they have them. This is war! I do like that everyone is using powerful moves right off the bat, though. These characters are smarter than your average shonen ones. What the hell ability is Alice using? Spirit Bomb of the Dead? I thought Vecta was the only one that could steal souls! This season is like the second part of Gurren Lagann. What happens after the good guys win and are in charge and have to run things? I'll say it again if I haven't already, this reminds me of an InuYasha ED. -

I just re-watched this episode the other day. If you're talking about Senku going behind Ruri with the beaker to listen to her breathing, seems like a stretch to call that suggestive to me. Same for her breathing heavy lying on the ground sick. I mean she was just coughing before that lol. There was the line Senku had about "keep pumping her full of sulfa drugs" though lmao. -
lupin iii Lupin the 3rd OVA: 'Is Lupin Still Burning?' Discussion
ben0119 replied to 3ngag3's topic in Episode Discussion Archive
Yeah like I said there was a ton of content. I'll have to look into all the localization status and availability of the Lupin stuff later at some point when I get the time. All I've seen is what were on TV. I was planning a Myazaki marathon for myself, and that would have included Castle of Cagliostro, but I haven't gotten around to it. Also just seems wrong that the Ghibli stuff isn't on Disney Plus. Yeah I heard 1-79 of Part II were dubbed but Adult Swim only showed the first 26 or something? I remember it repeating a lot back then. Also, I could be remembering wrong, but didn't that dub have some weirdness where the characters would reference modern pop culture stuff? Or am I thinking of something else? I always thought it was odd, because the show was obviously much older than the stuff the characters were referencing. I wonder if they will ever go back and dub the old stuff. I guess maybe Lupin isn't popular enough to justify it, or think people wouldn't want it due to their age. Like that whole "too old" thing DeMarco would talk about with old shows not getting enough viewers. Sort of like how people won't watch old movies because they're "before my time" or just because they're black and white, which is a shame. But I'm really not sure how often old animes get dubbed years after the fact. I know some shows will get re-dubs later on, but not so sure about ones that were never dubbed in the first place. Edit - I looked around a little bit, on wikipedia, and the Lupin wikia. https://lupin.fandom.com/wiki/Lupin_the_Third_Part_II https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupin_the_Third_Part_II 1-79 of Part II were only dubbed because Geneon went out of business. And episode 3 "Hitler's Legacy" didn't get aired on TV. And I was right about the modern pop culture references they put into the dub. Also the current VA for Zenigata in the new shows is Doug Erholtz, whereas the Part II VA was Dan Lorge. I didn't realize that. It's been a while since I saw it but the voice sounds spot on to me. It says on wikipedia that Lorge teaches acting now. If that's accurate, maybe that's why he didn't return to the role. It was released on DVD with all the existing dubbed episodes, but no more were dubbed. Which is really odd because they put an interview with Richard Epcar on there, who was the dub director. https://lupin.fandom.com/wiki/Lupin_the_Third_Part_III https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupin_III_Part_III Part III sounds like it was a bit of an oddball. They decided to make the art style more like the manga, then changed their minds. It also has inconsistent tone according to this article. The character designs also apparently change from episode to episode and even within an episode. There's three sets of character designs. I can find no real reason why the show was never dubbed in English, but maybe those reasons were part of it. https://lupin.fandom.com/wiki/Lupin_the_Third_Part_I https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lupin_the_Third_Part_I From the Lupin Wikia - The only countries that received the series dubbed were Italy, Spain and Brazil (under the name Cliffhanger). Due to the poor condition and missing archives of the sound to the point of even affecting the soundtrack releases, it is extremely unlikely that any future dubs including English will ever be made. Well that is unfortunate. Wow, I can't believe A Woman Called Fujiko Mine came out all the way back in 2012. Anyway, the VAs aren't getting any younger, so if somebody wants to get the rest of the episodes from the various shows dubbed, it needs to be done sooner rather than later. Tony Oliver is 61, Richard Epcar is 64, Lex Lang is 54, and Michelle Ruff is 52. It will probably be Doug Erholtz reprising Zenigata, but anyway, he's 48 whereas Dan Lorge is 54. Eh, Doug Erholtz also played Gin Ichimaru? That's some great range! But I gotta say, everyone still sounds the same pretty much as these characters! Then again, some people's voices don't start sounding "old" til way later. But, Michelle Ruff still sounds great, and I gotta say, doesn't look bad, either! -

Familiar faces... I assume they are familiar to the characters and not the audience. Or these are from the old shows that I haven't seen. Fujiko going to take the statue LOL. Not much I love more in TV shows and movies but races. Wacky Races, That Peanuts race... Herbie goes to Monte Carlo. Good times and good memories. Not a fan of the cars being cg, but they look better than most cg cars out there. Yeah that Fiat would not be able to contend with that Shelby Cobra. Not sure what the other cars are. Lol the other cars and this race did not last long. Fujiko in that catsuit oh my god. Well that statue was stolen easily... wait, it's a trap. Oh so it's just tickling. More innocent than those pictures would suggest. Nope nevermind lmao. It may "just" be tickling, but that is a fetish, and it's going a bit beyond that after he pulled Fujiko's zipper down and "turned up the power." Don't know who Mr. X or Mamo are either, or the guy who jumped into Lupin's car. Mamo's voice is deep as fuck. What did he do? Zap Lupin through the screen? So there's a drone or something? Noticed his jacket change heh. LOL ran over by Zenigata. But it looks like Zenigata went back in time too? Oh yeah, this short with all the crazy animation. Looks like we go through every iteration of Tom, and some made up ones. The mecha one was pretty cool. Not sure if supposed to be a Gundam or Transformer. Tom looked like a Decepticon there to me. Wow, spoil much with that bump, Demarco? Green... that's more of a teal, but okay. Definitely not a "pure" green in any case. Tongues now?! Also those aren't the MOST sensitive areas but okay. Wrong hair color for Fujiko here? I guess this part with Fujiko shooting Lupin because he killed that guy won't be explained at all. Demented Space Man short. And I guess we have the REAL explanation for global warming here? Things are a lot different. Assasin Goemon and Fujiko his partner. And hobo Jigen. But they're still connected. That wink from Fujiko. ❤️ Lupin is going to steal the time machine and steal his friends back? Sent them to Jurassic era! 45 minute time slot but the credits rolled at 40? And then there was the Tom and Space Man shorts. Was this thing even longer than what would fit in a 30 minute block without those commercials and shorts, anyway? Well, that is it for new content on Toonami until 2020!
