Looks like this will be a flashback recap episode though. I still think it's odd that the whole point of this filler arc was to fill in a 6 month time skip to cover training and explain things.     So it is a series of one on one matches, but they can all help each other with the individual matches. That will even the odds. They have a better chance this way than if it was strictly one on one, or a team battle where each side collaborates on a meal.

    There was an article written about how this show isn't newcomer friendly. It might take a bit to find it, but if it was written by someone who already saw the original it doesn't help us either way. So yeah since we already saw the original series it's hard to judge. Most of us saw Dragon Ball Z before we saw Dragon Ball and that wasn't confusing at all. I personally started with the Android Saga and it was easy to follow. But in that case it was the same characters older, not a whole new generation of characters. But yeah I dunno.
