Yep I don't expect any calm, or Mikasa in casual attire or anything any time soon heh. So, it sounds like they are using the shading from the anime (possibly the lighting as well, not sure about the lines,) and the character designs from the manga. It sounds like they received mostly good reception from the trailer (which I can't remember if I ever watched that,) so decided to keep that same style for the episodes. I remember seeing a report a while back that the manga was going to end in April and was like wut? How is that going to work when the "FINAL SEASON" has already started of the anime? I saw a comment there from the director that I think was a typo or mistranslation, that no matter what production company is involved, it won't have the same impact once the anime has ended (I'm pretty sure that was supposed to say manga.) I guess what they are saying is no matter how well the anime is done, it won't have the same impact if you already know the ending from reading the manga, but they are going to try to make the anime as good as they can. Which I can understand where that is coming from, you can only experience the ending (or any other big moments) once. Though seeing it animated is still a big deal and a big difference. And if myself and others who haven't followed the manga can stay spoiler free until the ending of the anime, it should be a pretty good ride. I just don't see how that is going to work out with starting up the final season when the manga isn't ever over yet. Also, some final arcs and endings can stand to be improved by their adaptation. I'm really hoping that is what happens with Bleach lol and I'm eagerly looking forward to it.

Inuyasha sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
ben0119 replied to HardcoreHunter's topic in Anime & Manga
I realized I hadn't watched the dubbed releases is a while and caught up on those. Episode 13 came up which of course had Miroku heavily featured in it. Viz has announced Ian James Corlett as the new voice actor for Miroku. And there was this reply underneath - I started watching Ranma 1/2 recently. I probably won't gain any insight into Yashahime by watching it, but it is Rumiko Takahashi's other big franchise so it only made sense I watch it eventually. I will say it has a lot more in common with the original Dragon Ball than it does InuYasha, what with the martial arts, comedy (which is so stupid and ridiculous and HILARIOUS, by the way,) wackiness, zaniness, and pervertedness. I didn't realize til after I saw this tweet that yep, that is definitely Ian James Corlett as Dr. Tofu, the original voice of Goku. I haven't gotten to the point where Kirby Morrow replaces him yet. I remember Ian James Corlett as the original voice actor for Goku of course, but I never got to hear Kirby Morrow play Goku except in a few select clips years after the fact. Hearing those clips, I didn't think Kirby Morrow was suited to play Goku at all, but maybe I would think differently if I had heard him in the role for years instead of Sean Schemmel. With Corlett and Schemmel, they seem more suited and fitting to the character and his personality, and sounding enough like Masako Nozawa without being annoying and being played by an actual dude (Schemmel especially.) Here in Yashahime, Corlett really doesn't sound like Kirby Morrow at all, or Corlett's younger self, for that matter. I suppose it's to be expected that his voice would change as he got older. But when Kirby Morrow appeared as Miroku in the first episode he sounded different, almost strained. I'm not sure if Kirby was feeling under the weather that day or maybe his voice changed that much with age as well. I don't know if the guy smoked or anything like that. Apparently he was in the LEGO Ninjago show which I never watched, so I should check to see how Kirby sounds there for some more recent examples. But I noticed for the brief flashback in episode 13, Corlett sounded different there, assuming that is still him. Depending on which voice is closer to Corlett's real voice, he might be doing the older sounding voice to sound closer to Kirby's last portrayal of Miroku. Except in the first episode that was younger Miroku there, so that really doesn't make much sense. As it is, I guess Viz did this because Corlett and Kirby "tagged out" for each other in the past, as Dr. Tofu and Goku. Maybe they thought this was more appropriate than trying to find a sound-a-like for Kirby. Which may not have been possible anyway. The more I think about it, I really can't think of any voice actor that sounds like Kirby Morrow. *sigh*- 102 replies

Inuyasha sequel Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon

Damn, I wrote my posts down after finishing the episodes but forgot to post them again! I guess I'll put most of these behind spoiler tags for space purposes. Ep 16 - Ep 17 - Ep 18 - Ep 19 - Man, this princess is annoying. And turns out she's the daughter of that Shogun we met before. That... "Bounty Hunter Lady" is an unfortunate character. Thankfully he wasn't in the episode for very long. Or the other bounty hunters for that matter. So, this whole battle was fixed lol. I thought they were actually fighting. It could have been good training heh. Takechiyo disguised himself as Moroha to take the hit from Hiraikotsu to make it look like the Demon Slayers defeated Moroha. Would Moroha really he knocked out by that thing, though? I'm not sure why Towa thought so and fell for the trick. Yep the Demon Slayers will not be working for the Shogun. Kohaku says Demon Slayers are supposed to help people in need, and not be greedy. Well, Hisui and the others learned something I guess. LOL at Moroha and Setsuna being scared of Towa's reaction. Would've been better if she was mad. They feel guilty now hahaha. Ooh next episode we get to see how Setsuna grew up. Should be good.- 102 replies

Yeah it doesn't look like a drastic shift in art style or anything. Yes without the time skip it might have been much more obvious. Oh ok. I wasn't sure if the age difference. Some people can change a lot in those years. Yes in the day time and different outfits will make things a lot easier to get a good idea. Though I'm not sure if things are going to calm down any time soon haha. I just really hope the show doesn't do a flashback next week LOL.

It was way too soon for infighting. There should have been more regular missions before the fight with Hibana's Company. Maybe an issue with transitions, but if the arcs were really like that in the manga, there isn't much the anime could do, as far as the length and placement of the arcs themselves. The problem is we barely got to see much of Rekka or his relationship with Tamaki before he turned on everyone. And flashing back to it after his betrayal didn't work. It needs to be built up beforehand. It got better once Benimaru and the proto-nationalists showed up. But the actual twist with Rekka, the fight, the White Clad reveal, was very clunky and poorly done. I still think the White Clad are kind of lame since they're just a crazy evil cult that wants to destroy the world. Though now that we know the Sol Temple are evil, even though they are just as cartoonishly evil as the White Clad, what they're doing seems to actually make sense (keep things under control and keep the peace, but through extremely unethical methods) and could be a lot more interesting. I'm not sure where this leaves the White Clad though.

Oh, I see. That really sucks. I wish WIT could have finished it for consistency and completions' sake. The committee must have really wanted this season out fast for some reason. Yeah they would have looked different regardless. It is true that it's better to do it here with the time skip. It would have been much more jarring otherwise. Taller, but Mikasa also seems more slender too. What is the age difference? And see looking from this page, she actually looks more feminine here than in this last episode. Facial shape, but she also has accentuated eyelashes. So I don't know if the issue is because of "manga accuracy." Though wasn't one of the criticisms of the manga that the art was sketchy and shitty looking? It doesn't look so bad here. Maybe it has gotten better over time. You can see a lot of detail and elements left out though. Look at how Eren is plugged into his Titan form and how his arms just end then there's just a bunch of diagonal lines. So I can see what people are talking about even just looking at this page. Although, the episode did take place at night and the characters were wearing those weird black outfits with the the weird armor and straps. Not a big fan of them, honestly. So the lighting and outfits could throw things off a lot too and make it hard to make things out. I will probably re-watch the episode too and try to see things better and see if things look better the second time.

Oh ok. I've never heard that before in an anime. Maybe it is something that was in other shows but never carried over to dubs. Oh ok. I was trying to figure out who Gabi reminds me of, though this is probably the wrong thread for it. The "excited girl" character, makes me think of Hange, or Black Clover's Sally. None of them share VAs though. I will say that Lindsay Seidel sure has some range though. So does Trina Nishimura, playing both Sally and Mikasa. Oh Gabi and her voice also reminds me of Jun Shiomi, the spices girl from Food Wars, and Moneca Rial used that same "nerdy voice" for Tsuyu in MHA. Hey, don't mention THAT show lol. Uh, sure lol. All those Titan-looking assholes lol.

Then Demarco will have FAILED US.

Good to hear the second season of Demon Slayer is already on the way. I didn't the read the whole article yet, but I saw that it's going to continue on the next arc after the movie. So they won't be breaking up the movie into episodes to use in the beginning of the second season of Demon Slayer. This confirms it. If Demarco doesn't show the movie there will be an issue. Not like the Sword Art Online movie which was written by Reki and "canon" but really had no bearing on the overall plot of Alicization/War of Underworld, and you can tell the Ordinal Scale elements were put in after the fact. We will be left to our own devices to have to watch the Demon Slayer movie somehow if Demarco doesn't show it.
