    I just looked the episode description up for this, and it sounds like more filler. God damn it.

    They looked for it. Jack said it wasn't there because the sword left him. In other words, it disappeared because he was no longer deemed worthy to hold it. It wasn't until he conquered his "demon" that he was redeemed.
