I dunno really. Only Reiner seemed to know what that power was among the characters we know so far, so at least for the moment it's not that strange. It's not like Survey Corps has anyone to ask that we know of. It's not like Hange isn't still experimenting with Eren's Titan also, like we saw in this episode. Major spoiler
