PhilosipherStoned Posted Sunday at 10:11 AM Posted Sunday at 10:11 AM Narrator just said the North Pacific octopus can grow to the size where it's tentacles are larger than a school bus...("It can reach up to 30 ft. from arm tip to arm tip. The length of a school bus.") This shit is wrong in so many ways idek.... First off 30 ft isn't really even the typical length of a school bus, but I guess that's close enough. The giant pacific octopus/ north pacific octopus top out in size about like humans do from what I know though lol. Rarely over 6 ft. My god if that were true they'd have giant and colossal squid beat....AND no they don't. Why does national geographic suck so much at relaying facts? Didn't they used to be at least a lil better idk...I'm about an hour into this Octopus documentary which was going well... but NPOs are not bigger than fucking school busses anywhere lol....Even wikipedia caps it at 20 ft and that is a huge ass specimen if you ask me. Why add 10-20 feet to the damn creature? It's pretty amazing and mind boggling even at around 5 to 6 feet... Wait I almost missed the chance to say maybe they were comparing NPO to the size of the short bus they loaded up on as a kid. Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Sunday at 10:21 AM Author Posted Sunday at 10:21 AM (edited) Well is it 9.75 ft to 16 ft long or the size of a school bus lol? National geographic doesn't deal in absolutes I guess as long as you know it's big. https://www.nationalgeographic.com/animals/invertebrates/facts/giant-pacific-octopus Edited Sunday at 10:22 AM by PhilosipherStoned Quote
PhilosipherStoned Posted Sunday at 10:55 AM Author Posted Sunday at 10:55 AM wait...from arm tip to arm tip? Is that a clever trck to make sure we're paying attention? Arm tip to Arm tip so is that two tentacles length added together or twice the normal size? I'm going to sleep. Quote
