I support creators by purchasing their work and/or supporting their causes, etc.
Not by supporting randomly assigned advertisers that probably don't even know or care what said content is.
taking off your adblock does almost zero for said content creators. All it really does is support a terrible system that doesn't really work for much of anyone (content creators or consumers) and contributes to the ongoing erosion of humanity and individuality in general, as well as creates an illusion of potential success even though it basically does nothing but perpetuate the top-down economy that simply is unsustainable.
Honest people should be trying to make honest money of their content. Not mincing around all friendly like making sure they hit their gestures and speak with a sense of urgency because internet. The idea of turning off your adblocker to support content creators is a superficial designer idea created by people who want you to turn off that pesky adblocker so they can channel you, gather your information, and make money off you and perpetuated by content creators that don't know much about the issue, but know they want that extra few cents from the ad click.
That douche in that video could give two fucks about your privacy, or who you are, or anything else. Just like his advertisers, all he cares about is how he can make money off you and your data. He can't do that if you've got your adblocker up. There's no "aw jeez guys look at it from the poor advertiser's side". the real other side is: If you have an ounce of fucking integrity, you won't sell the data of your patrons to the highest bidder, or expose their data to somebody just for tossing a few pennies your way for every click they get.
