wow. that was terrible. i feel like they fundamentally misunderstood the nature of a show like this. i wanted it to be good because i feel like shows like this can work if you can hit a certain mark, but this missed that mark completely. you start in medias res, for one. the exposition was horrendously out of place. a shame, really. id kind of hoped they could find a way to do a new TMNT show like this, sort of like the ninja turtles shorts nickelodeon put out online. meanwhile, TTG is still on the air. sigh. i would find that palatable if they weren't constantly assassinating robin's character and if absolutely everything about beast boy ween't glaringly offensive.

to be honest, though, this is what i assume people mean when they call harem protags boring and bland. I LOVE BELL CRANEL. i never even found Tenchi Masaki boring or bland.

Birds of Prey 8.5/10 Better than Joker, a lot of fun. story well told, roles well acted. sexy, sexy women kicking ass. interestingly creepy psychotic villains. terrific humor. i gave cassandra cain a pass because, while not at all comics accurate, her character was very interesting and compelling. LOVED Black Canary, but i feel like the Canary cry was maybe underutilized. I want Huntress to slap me in the face. that's my new fetish. Solid DC movie made all the better by getting an R rating that allowed them to really push the humor up a notch and properly lean into the violence of the premise.

see, that's the thing. this incarnation of the seven ninja swordsmen of the mist was definitely in the manga and exactly as depicted here. but they were designed to poorly and haphazardly as to be a real disappointment in their execution. EVERY single Mist ninja to appear in this series has been interesting and cool....until this storyline with the janky-ass ninja swordsmen

it'd be cool if the head cleaving sword became one of kakashi's main weapons in major combat, having won it from zabuza....then again, i like suigetsu having it.
