Goku's and Vegeta's personality by series

Goku first

classic Dragonball = a nice but unintentionally insulting little kid, Goku would frequently insult people thinking he was giving them a compliment and people would get angry at him for this constantly, but he wasn't doing it on purpose, he was just dumb, he also could not tell people's gender's apart by sight and had to be told what gender they were or had to "pat" them to determine for himself

DBZ = Basically a much less intelligent version of Superman, he was a very nice man with a strong sense of mercy and justice(often too strong, which is why Vegeta played the important role of killing people who did not deserve Goku's mercy), though was lacking in book smarts and his stupidity made people angry frequently

GT = snarky and actually quite a bit smarter than he used to be, with hints of his classic Dragonball Personality

Super = an unrepentant Sociopath who deliberately harms people for his own amusement and frequently mentions how much he hates his family

 

 

Vegeta's is more complicated because he didn't exist in db and his personality changes after the Cell Saga

DBZ first half = A deranged Sociopath who kills for his own amusement (though he claims he was turned this way by Frieza on his first death bed)and ultimately cares about nothing but his own survival, also very firmly believes in the obsolete Saiyan caste system...I.e. he's racist

DBZ second half = much more mellow, apparently took a liking to Bulma enough to fuck her , seems to now only Kill if he's more or less told it's okay for him to do it, still believes in the Saiyan Caste system....but now has inverted it, and belives he's the inferior one and constantly beats up on himself when nobody else is there, but puts on a superior facade when anyone else is around

GT = totally domesticated earthling, has no real purpose in the story outside of being a fusion partner for Goku, though he'll probably still kill you if you look at his wife or kids the wrong way

Super = basically Goku's personality from DBZ but slightly more Tsundere, is also the best husband and father in the show aside from Krillin
