Quote(s) of the Day

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I kind of miss this thread - it used to be in the Library on lithium. Sometimes it was quote of the day, sometimes it was 5 or 10 quotes of the day.

No rules, although if you can cite the author of the quote, I'd appreciate it; "Anonymous" get more credit than s/he deserves. Also, please don't quote yourself or your own work - to me, it doesn't really seem like a quote unless at least one other person has repeated it.

"You can't have everything. Where would you put it?" (Steven Wright)

“A dying culture invariably exhibits personal rudeness. Bad manners. Lack of consideration for others in minor matters. A loss of politeness, of gentle manners, is more significant than is a riot.”  (Robert A. Heinlein)

“By the time you swear you're his,
Shivering and sighing.
And he vows his passion is,
Infinite, undying.
Lady make note of this --
One of you is lying.”  (Dorothy Parker)

"Dinosaurs didn't have to solve quadratic equations. They didn't play chess, and they didn't build rockets to fly to the moon. They just had to be smart enough to do the the things that dinosaurs do." (Dr Thomas R. Holz)
