I remember it being used on Piccolo more for some reason.  Since Goku isn't evil then it must he a translation issue.

Dragonball in general is terribly written and inconsistent.

According to Muten Rōshi, if the difference in power between the user and the victim is far too vast, the user will is not only guaranteed to die, but the target will not even be sealed. Furthermore, to completely seal the target, the individual must be guided into the container, and the talisman placed over it.[8]Failure to secure the talisman will result in the target being able to escape. Additionally, the container must be completely secure; any openings or damage renders the item useless.

Yeah, we saw what happened with the Evill Containment Wave (or ECW for short) in the Zamasu arc. That was stupid!

It seems every time with the exception of 2 episodes ago this attack is used in Super, it backfires hilariously!!
